Flash XDR 1080P recording time

thats right, it is not meant as a long form codec, it is meant as a high quality codec. For long form use SxS or KxS or use the FlashXDR with 50Mbps 4:2:2 8bit such as the 700 records.

Yes the 720p50 at 50Pbps is the way to go obviously.

I read an article yesterday by a guy who predicted that Blu-Ray will die a quick death as a format as it is too costly to produce.

Anyone think TVs should have a slot for USB keys?
That way you could burn a project to .H264 and pass out Keys to Clients.
Would suit a lot of projects....obviously without menus.

That article is nonsense.
BluRay has no competition.
Store sales and video rental Bluray has considerably picked up over the last four months.

The only thing holding back BluRay is the cost of movies. At least here, there are not enough titles and they are all 'full price'. People are used to bargin basement bins full of cheap DVDs and some new release BRs are AU$50 vs AU$29-$35 on DVD.

Drop the price of everything that isn't a real new release to AU$15 and people will come in waves... There is some real rubbish stuff out there on BR and they want AU$39 for it, when the same thing on DVD is AU$15 or less in many cases.
