Hvx 200 footage looks grainy

My city lights footage looks grainy and has those lines from HD in it.
How can I corret this in FCP?
And how can I set the camera to prevent this?
What am I doing wrong?

you can mess with your shutter speed depending on if it will be on a tripod or not, yea F gain, open up the iris, shoot at a slower frame rate, like 24pn., hvx sucks low light! lol good luck man!

The HVX200A is much better at low light situations. The grain difference is
*much* better. But, Calix is right .. slow your shutter down .. put the
Iris on manual and open up the F-stop as wide as you can ..

The other thing you can try is to mess with the CORE DETAIL setting.. which
for nite shots can significantly reduce noise at the expense of detail. For night
shots, there isn't a lot of detail (usually), so you don't miss a whole lot.

If all else fails, you can try one of several noise reduction plug-ins from
Magic Bullet, EZ:Noise, etc.

best wishes,
jeff

yes.. if you increase that, you might get a bit more, but you'll get a lot of motion blur. The other thing is to shoot in 24p instead of 30... and set your master ped into the negatives up to how much contrast you might like...

Having the 200a or 150/170 would be signifigantly better at night. I was able to pull some great shots from one lone street light, a campfire, and some twilight dusk shots..

I have also shot at night on high gain and then used the plugin from Neat Video to remove the noise with pretty good results.
