Aaaargh! Ebay has me losing my mind!

How many times have you been outbid on something... only to later on see the exact same item go to the first LOW bidder uncontested... because you forgot about the item?

Jeez... I watched something go for $79 last week... after bidding early, and then adding to my bid, and finally saying "fine, YOU take it"... and today I click on my ebay and D'oh! Sum *****! I forgot about that and yeah, of course it went for the opening bid of $25.
:)

This has happened a few times now... but if I try to put in a good, low bid in advance... I never get it. You usually gotta' snipe it to get a good price. Either that or my evil twin is across the country always wanting the exact same thing I do... when I do.

there are also bid sniping tools out there you might want to look into. But I know the feeling I that happened to me the other day on a 135mm 2.8.

It happened to me on a Dodge Viper. I had my bid in for $100 and then some a-hole came and outbid me. The nerve of some people...

You can spend hours watching the item, losing sleep over it, become the highest bidder, then a sniper takes it in the last 10 seconds! That's why it's time to join Ebayholics Anonymous!

Dude we're just havin' some fun here. It's "the Cafe" remember?

I figure this has to happen to a lot of people on here... and it's just funny, in a not so funny way. I have some in-wall speakers up in the Marketplace because I thought I could complete the 7.1 system with the same speakers... in both cases... and so far, every time I put in a bid on the same new speakers, the price goes nuts... and yesterday I forgot about the ending auction and somebody got a jbl pair shipped for $40... which is DIRT CHEAP and way less then I paid for each pair I got already... and with the exception of that auction, I haven't been in on one that even got close to what I paid. So trying to complete the 7.1 speakers in the same price-range has been a *****...

ahhhh I didnt look , hahaha....still : shill bidding ? bid retraction 1 second before end to lower price? account take over ? mugus ? romanians ? escrow fraud ? greedpain reeks of scams! they fired the complete trust and safety department....

Matt, you have to bid just seconds before unless you're just driving up the price.

I personally use the Justsnipe site when I can't be round for an auction.

Now that's some good advice! Thanks.

I'm about done buying anything... and now I have to start selling... but it's funny how it only takes one other guy that wants the same thing you do, when you do... to drive up the price of something.

This is Mr. Obvious here... but I understand sniping because it's just like going to a yard sale... as soon as you start looking at something 3 people are crowding your personal space to look at the same item... "hey if HE wants it then I want it"... :)

The thing I do is bid ridiculously low, of course hoping that will be the bid that takes it, while making sure I enter a secret bid of as high as I would go, or the most I would ever pay for the item. That way, if someone waits until the last second to outbid me, he is going to have a last second "you have been outbid" message/surprise panic attack. And he or she will have to keep popping in a number before that last minute or so ticks down. If they actually outbid me, I am okay with it because I wind up being happy I didn't spend too much.

I usually do this whenever I buy something on E-Bay. I will bid low, enter a secret max bid and check the results after the bidding has closed.

With all these "snipe" tools, eventually won't ebay's server bomb out because of "multiple" snipe requests ending up like a DoS attack? :D

Anhar

I miss the old days of strolling down the market and haggling and picking up chicks*... *sigh*

*as in chicklets, we use to have a small chicken room thing, fresh eggs in the morning YUM!..

Now that's funny. It happened to me too when I bided on a 10 acre property for 99 cents when I got out bided. Oh well, you win some and you lose some. My max bid was 10 bucks.

I'm a new ebayer and I've use it mostly for buying things. Never sold anything since a lot of people are complaing about sellers having to pay a bunch of extra fees, etc. ? So it wouldn't be worth selling anything under 10 bucks?

I find ebay to be pretty neat sometime when you do find a great deal.
