Not sure how this is done... I shot test footage at 1080i and it's clearly interlaced when viewing in FCP so how do u get 1080p from the HPX170?

You can set it to remove on import in FCP or you use Inverse Telecine option to rip the progressive out.

Always shoot PA modes for FCP if Native is unavailable.

Yeah but if you're using log and transfer to bring the footage into FCP will it still remove the pulldown?

The default settings in FCP are to automatically remove the pulldown. Assuming you haven't changed anything, you should be good to go, even with log and transfer.

even w/ log and transfer, make sure you update your final cut, i had the 6.0.0., and it didn't remove the pulldown, but after i updated final cut, it did.

so yea, shoot in 1080/24pA and log & transfer, you're good to go.

Ah ok thanks guys!

Oh wait, I just checked and see that I shot the test stuff in 24P..... Is there any way around this or no?

Nope. You will have interlaced lines every couple frames when you shoot in 24p and import at 24pA. You must shoot 1080i24pA and use the cature preset of DvcPro HD 1080 24pA.

That's what tests are for. Good thing you didn't just start shooting it all and then realize the issue like some have done.

Ah ok, I'll look into it to se if that's possible. Granted, I never used the program, I'll still give it a try. I'm just glad all of this was test footage and not the real deal.

Cinema tools will remove the pulldown from the 24p footage. The first frame of the P2 clip will be your A frame so reverse telecine is pretty easy.
