Midtone noise in HPX170

Barry,

I found that one or two clicks on color temp. helped with the 200A in preset, but would have preferred to work with separate RB Gains, Gammas and Blacks. If the 200 is more plus green than a 200A that would be unusable for me. The 200A does white balance very tightly, tighter than my 170, but the latter is partly due to more noise.

I will say that I mostly employed the 5600k setting which I found to be more accurate on the 200A. The 170 looks a little on the magenta side my way but that's not a big big deal. At least the colors are vastly improved over the 200. Boy. The nasty yellow cast on that camera.

Kholi,

Yes, I agree that the 170 looked a bit magenta even after white balancing compared to the 200A after being white balanced, it was very obvious on mid tone chips(along with noise). I don't like greenish-yellow color bias in preset on any camera. Warm is okay, but not towards the green spectrum.

I seriously thought the 200A nailed the 5600K preset. One nice thing, amongst others, on the ex1 is the ability to dial in the wb in 100s.
