Upgrade EX1 firmware to 1.11

Any Class 6 card will work fine,

Perrone, you're right on all of your other points, but not many CLASS6 SDHC cards work with the KxS.

I tested many CLASS 6 cards including Adata and the Patriot SDHC cards that do not work.

The safe bet is the 16GB SanDisk Ultra II 15MB/s SDHC card.

the link got removed on the other forum, if you didn't get it in time - http://fohdeesha.com/data/other/not ex1 firmware.zip

hey fellas,
i've been trying to upload the 1.11 firmware upgrade and i'm stuck at step:
3) Extracting the USB driver file
when i try to extract either of the 2 zip folders the Extract Wizard alerts me that there are "no files to extract". now, according to the pdf instructions, this step is to confirm the contents of the binary package. should i continue on to the next step or is something wrong.

thanks,
mike

I would re-download the main zip, and extract it with winzip or winrar. then extract the 2 zips with winzip or winrar. Working fine for me

ok. i'm having the hardest time with this upgrade. i'm gonna start at step 1 because nothing is working right.
1. when i click on the firmware upgrade link that you've provided, do i "open" or "save it to disk"?
2. i've figured out how extract the files, but here's where it gets really frustrating. no matter where i save the extracted files, i can't seem to locate them when i browse for the file in the Found New Hardware Wizard. this is Step 6_4 from the PMWM08-015.pdf
where should i save the extracted files????

thanks.

click the link then save to disk, preferably on your desktop (easier to find)

Then just go to your desktop and double click it, extract everything to the desktop. It should all be there.

oh, everything is there. i see the folders. i can open the folders. i see the files, but when i'm preforming step 6_4 my Found New Hardware Wizard can't seem to locate the file when i click browse.

i'm going maaaaaaaaaaddddddddddd

Here's the problem I have when installing the USB driver (step 8). The error was as follows:

Windows was unable to install your PMW-EX1

Windows could not find drivers software for your device.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.

Of course it could may have been because I'm running Windows Vista 64bit OS. If that's the case, I may have to try running this upgrade in my XP Pro. Can anyone confirm that this problem is due to running 64bit Vista?

One more thing, where can I find a list of improvements/fixes that this firmware upgrade provides?

I decided it's time to install the firmware update because my camera's warranty is almost expired.

I have the pfd in front of me and I have run into a problem. The instructions say to install "Microsoft.NET Framework Version 2.0 re-distributable package (x86)". I tried that and got an error message from the installation wizard that it couldn't install because of compatibility problem with a "previously installed version". My computer has NET Framework Version 3.0.

Do I have a problem or can I go ahead and do the update?

Thanks.
Pete

Finally getting around to upgrading the EX-1 to 1.11 and encountering an error message when I launch the binary package loader.

Login Mode Error: 90005
<<Check the target!!>>

Anyone seen or heard of this before?

Start To Install is then grayed out and I can't go any further.

Found the problem. Seems I needed to turn camera off and then back on. This time it recognized the camera and as I write it is performing the 1.10 update.

..........

Success! Performed 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 updates in succession. Camera starts up and recognizes KxS pulled from my EX-3.

There is a second PDF file in the package which I did not notice which lists all the error messages. Solution for non-recognition is to power cycle camera. BTW, did this on my MBPro from BootCamp.
