Best Way To Convert HD (HVX) to SD

I am shooting a project in HD. I have not used the HVX much, so I am not too familiar with HD. I see the difference, but I would like to have a SD version of what I edit alongside the HD version.

Would this be a good way to do this:

Shoot HD
Edit HD in Vegas (with Raylight)
Render as a full screen 720x480 video (with letter box)

Or would I dub it to tape from the card, and edit a second version with the captured tape footage?

Thats what I figured.

How about backing up files? When I shot with the DVX, I would back up the video files I used in the project, project files and any audio files so I could load it onto other computers. Would I do the same thing with P2 footage? Like just take the MXF files by themselves from the video folder or would I take stuff from all the folders that are in the Content folder from the P2
