FAST SDHC Memory for the EX1

Horray!

I now have my ex-1 and a kensignton 7-in-1 adaptor + 2x Sandisk 16gb Ultra II's

They are working beautifully :) Thanks for the info guys!

Carl, do those connect adapters work with the SD cards also, or just the Pro Duo's?

Thats great Brad, for other Aussie's benefits, where did you get your Kensington readers from?

I've only got one so far :(

The one I got was from Ebay in the US that you linked me to. There is one up for auction from a UK Ebay seller, which I'll see if I can pick up, but they are certainly disappearing!

Amazon block us from importing them, so that's a no go. What other US sites would ship internationally and have them in stock? I'd be happy to import 10 or so of them for Aussies if we can find a seller. Maybe the connect 18 in 1 adapters will be the way to go?

Ok, understood. The only other 'simply' option is to backorder with B&H and hope they eventually get stock.

When are the SanDisk Ultra II SDHC 32GB Cards coming out guys?
Want to stock up on them.
Do they record 110 minutes (as in twice the 16GB cards) on each card?

What about ordering them and having them shipped to a friend in the US?

FYI...

I ordered from Kensigton.com on monday. Got a Backordered message tuesday. Called today to cancel. Salespearson/operator told me it shipped today and gave me a tracking number.... Will post more when I find out more.

That's odd since the www.kensington.com site shows them as "Not is Stock" when you add to cart.

right!!!! I expected to get the backorder message as their site gave me the out of stock message too. However, I though I had to wait it out so I went a head with it. I found another vendor in the mean time and ordered from them. Then called to cancel and was given a tracking number. Tracking number isn't recognized by fedex tracking query yet, but I was told it would show by this afternoon. Will post if it does.

My local Sandisk supplier, when asked, said the best ETA they could get from one of their suppliers was Q1 09.

I wouldn't hold my breath for them to come, but they will arrive for sure, most likely in the US first. In the mean time the 16s are great value and have a decent record time.

I have been told the next couple of weeks in the UK.

I hope they come through, the sooner they are on the streets the sooner their prices will start to drop ;-)

In slightly off topic news, my 32gb SxS just shipped out today for me. If sandisk and Sony have got these sorted, the 32gb Sandisk SDHC cards can't be too far off now :)

Well I will be looking out for them as I have bought four Kensingtons and two 16GB Sandisk SDHC cards to keep me going as my PHU-60K gave me the media must be restored error and had to go.

Hey, BradCube, I don't know how the Scandisk II SDHC memory card will work on the i<dot> connect 18to1 adaptor since I have not had a memory card to test. -- Carl

i-dot-connect

i-dot-connect

So I picked a i-Dot-Connect 18 in 1 Express Card Reader up at Fry's (they have a good return policy)...

Yes, it does work, sort of... the camera sometimes doesn't recognize the presence of the card/memory and you have to take it out and re-insert it...

The Sandisk memory chiip sticks out farther than in the Kensington, which means that if you brush up against something, there is danger that it will snap off (possibly)...

BUT, in inserting the i-dot-connect into the express bus slot on my MacBook Pro, the card got stuck and only after quite a lot of wiggling it finally came out (it was a mechanical thing--the lip of the card hits something inside the express bus slot on the computer)... Maybe this is a defective card, but, given that I have two Kensingtons that work beautifully, why bother.

Eli

Thanks for that info lads. I've placed an order for 10 Kensington 7 in 1 adapters with B&H now. If it turns out that they won't be getting more stock to fulfill the order, I'll have to re-look at the i <dot> connect adapters.
