he he he, this is gonna be uber cool!!!

I'm just waiting for the first few users feedback, and then I'll like to pick up to of these if it works in the field!

It looks very nice

Is there anyway to get a bigger focus wheel on there? Something that's more along the diameter of Chrosziels perhaps?

Hi,

Im working on it, but its going to cost a LOT to get a custom knob machined (more than the whole thing so far) so im looking for already available collet knobs, and that one is the biggest they do....

Hi Peter,

Just to comment on the knob, I showed the images you posted on of the remote to one of my regular AC's and the first comment they had right off the bat was that the knob did not have any thickness and that you could not hold the remote sideways and put markers.

They told me this is crucial when they are trying to see markers and actors points with their peripheral vision. (I can post pictures if you want).

I only point these out because I think you will offer a fabulous/affordable product for indie filmakers and you are open to R&D on this forum.

Cheers,

A machined knob shouldn't be that expensive! Redrock has a great machines knob for their FF and the overall unit isn't that expensive at all!

I am not sure economies of scale would apply here as it does for RR.

They could though! Especially if this device is geared towards professional and indie filmmakers alike.

If anything make the knob replaceable and offer a pro-grade knob with marking as an accessory!

Hi,

The problem is the knob would have to be moulded, and this means id have to design a mould, and then id have to get the mould made, which is hugely expensive, and it would probably have to be a two part mould anyway.

I can definatly look at getting another knob made up later on that will fit onto the current Hofo model, but at the moment, the price would rocket if i added a custom know.

I will do some more knob research though....

Congrats. You gotta post a video of it on your rig.

Well, fairly big news update.

As of about an hour ago, the first hocus focus prototype is working properly. Its in the cases, the lights work and the wireless part is fantastic.

At the moment afew of the smaller bits dont work (frequency select, direction switch and datalight) but everything else is working.

I just left the receiver in the house and walked down to the village to buy my lunch, and i could still accurately focus the lens whilst i was in the queue. I got some pretty odd looks from the other customers.

Range was about 300 meters.

Well, there it is! Looks fantastic. I quite like the look of everything, and can't wait till everything gets finalized!
Thanks for the update.
