Hi,

So i made my edit, it is 10 minutes of 1080/25 HVX footage, there are no effects or color corrections, but several cuts. I have tried different ways of exporting, all unsuccessful. I shot with a M2 so i had to flip the footage 180 in the motion tab when editing, when i export the QT movie it is flipped back, and squeezed and bad quality and huge file and it takes 3 hours every time i try, its driving me mad. Can some one help me, pleases, please, please!!!!!! What is the proper way, what settings?????? Why 3 hours for 10 minutes? HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!

You need to give way more details as to what you're doing. Right now all I see is I'm exporting a quicktime movie and it doesn't work. So first off I'd have to ask, exporting how? Are you doing a Quicktime Movie export, Quicktime Conversion export, or Compressor export? What codec are you trying to export with? What is your desired final delivery to be? And as for the lenghty time to export, well we know your footage is DVCPro HD 1080 Pal, but what are your sequence settings? Are they same or have you moved into a different codec for your final/locked sequence (like an uncompressed one)?

cheers.

Sequence settings-

FRAME SIZE 1440 x 1080 - HD (1440 x 1080 ) (16:9)

PIXEL ASPECT RATIO HD (1440 x 1080 )

FIELD DOMINANCE UPPER (Oodd)

EDITING TIME BASE 25

QT VIDEO SETTINGS DVCPRO HD 1080i50

Qualety 100%

What i figured is that i make a full size locked quicktime master out of FCP than down size that master in QT pro for internet. Makes sense?

I want basicly to make one version to DVD and one to internet

thank you for helping!!!

I would do both the DVD based version and the Internet version right out of Final Cut Pro. Actually, do both using Compressor out of Final Cut Pro. You can queue them both up and then just walk away and it will batch process all of it.

If you are determined to use QT Pro though, then inside of Final Cut Pro, use the Export > Using Quicktime Conversion option. That is using QT Pro basically, but instead it'll read the raw footage right from your timeline and your cuts rather than your outputed file. At least that would be one way to start.

Also, if the export time lengths are that long, at least to begin with, do like short 30sec clip for the export to test the settings.

Now why did i not think about that. STUPID!!!!!!! Thank you for the help.

Naw, not stupid, just human. I've seen one of my collegues nearly tear his hair out trying to figure out why FCP wasn't giving any audio playback to the speakers in the edit suite. We tried reboots, trashing preferences, and the audio meters were showing audio fine. He then took a peak at the mixer, and hey look there, the master audio was set to 0. :)

cheers.

I use the presets in compressor mostly.
Compressor rocks.

Just go to Export > using Compressor
