That's life in America 2008. You're right though. Being "offended" by a point of view is the best way to shut down discussion and many people know it and use it as a way to do just that.

Sure. I realize that probably appeared to be some sort of personal attack. It wasn't. All that I meant is (and I think it has been demonstrated on numerous occasions and in the conversation we are having now) in some threads people's opinions are strong and differing from those of other people's. I am talking about the board as a whole, remember that, when I say that without some sort of structure (and "baby-sitters" in place to maintain that structure) this place would be on fire. Because of strong, differing opinions and people who can't manage them in civil ways, arguments break out easily and we need people in place to stop that from happening and keep this a peaceful community.

THAT'S what I meant, nothing more, nothing less. :) You know you're my friend, Shawn! Besides, I would never target one person.

Nathyn, that made me laugh. You're probably right in that everyone's opinions are all churned up right now which makes it easier to discuss them.

Everyone seems so hair-triggered, too, lately. Maybe I should stay out of things like this, but I think it is good to have a neutral party to maintain order so the mods don't have to come in, lock stick swinging. Perhaps you guys don't like serious Penguin. If not, tough luck, because there is a time for jokes and a time for...well...a time not for jokes, I suppose. There is also a time for bed - when sentence structure begins to fail. Apparently that time is now. :)

Carrado is a feature film done by Adam (taormina). There was, apparently, a lot of good information in the film thread so it was stickied. Then, after sometime, a lot of drama erupted (I won't go into detail, this is a summary) and the thread was shut down.

I was very familiar with the Corrado thread. I posted on it quite a few times.

What I missed was the eruption, evidentually.

That is too bad. That was a great thread there.

Regarding the sig... If Adam wished to remain an active member of the site, I have no issues with him having his signature to his blog.

But, a lot of drama happened, and I seem to remember Adam announcing that he would no longer be associated with the forum in any capacity. On that note, I didn't feel it entirely appropriate for him to have a signature that was directing our members away from the community to a site that had and has some pretty inflammatory comments about dvxuser on it.

There was drama and disagreements and wrong doing from people on both sides of this issue, as I have already stated. With Adam commenting that he no longer wished to have anything to do with the forum, I made the decision that I did not feel it appropriate for him to continue to use this forum to redirect the members away from here to a site that had some pretty bad things said about this site as a whole and individuals on it in the heat of the moment.

In this context the signature begins to be kind of commercial, and I feel it is also common sense that I don't care to have links to sites that explicitly "call out" dvxuser.

If Adam wishes to remain an active contributing member of the community, that is another thing entirely. I would have no problem with him having a link to his blog.

But, with some of the comments made on the blog, the person linking to it having stated that they wished not to be associated with dvxuser any longer, etc. I don't wish to allow it to be promoted on this site.

I apologize if you disagree with this. It is not personal... Just business. Now, if there is some detail I am missing on this, or if I am misinterpreting any of the information that has led me to my decision, I will gladly hear any reasonably worded verbage on the matter from relevant persons.

Sorry, but I just don't wish to encourage the continuance of the drama surrounding the corrado thread. Beyond that, I wish Adam all the best with his film and have continued to follow the progress on his blog.

But, beyond that, I do not wish to allow it to be promoted on this site for reasons I have (hopefully) clearly stated above. At least not under present circumstances.

Again, I am really sorry to hear this "news" (at least to me). There was a lot of positive and inspirational information being shared there for a while (in that thread).
 
As a public apology to the mods... my post regarding how the situation was handled was reactionary and unfounded... please forgive me... thanks guys.

No... it wasn't, it was quick and reactionary without giving the mods the benefit of the doubt... because honestly, they're all class acts IMO.
