Why the 200 is the best camera choice for indie filmmakers???

Hey guys,
I spent many months deciding which camera to buy for my company. I finally chose the HVX200 and have been very pleased with the choice. I am going to be presenting soon for our entire department the advantages, disadvantages, and overall reasons this camera is the way to go for indie filmmaking. I would love to hear what you guys have to say as far as:
1. How this camera offers an image that looks professional
2. What accessories need to be purchased in addition to what comes with the camera to give it the most professional (film mimic) look possible
And then just any other areas of interest that made you guys choose this camera for indie type projects!
thanks guys

Jared:

I have been shooting with the HVX200 since March, 2006 and have shot thousands of P2 cards of footage with it. I will have a 32 page article about transitioning from the HVX200 to the HPX170 that will go live on www.kenstone.net this Sunday. I have about 2-3 pages that outline all of the positive or negative issues about the HVX200. You should check it out.

As far as accesories, that's easy, you would want a 35mm adapter, Nikon, Zeiss or Canon lenses, mattebox, follw focus, rails, shoulder mount, 7 or 8" HD monitor (a good one like the Panasonic, Nebtek or Carrion), monitor mount, carrying/shipping case, extra batteries.

Also, there is grip, lighting and audio but that would be a different post altogether.

add in a nice big tripod to keep all that stuff Dan mentioned stable and still provide smooth pans and tilts.

32 pages!?!? wow. Looking forward to it Dan.

I guess there was a lot of pent up demand for an article specifically about transitioning from the HVX to the HPX because yesterday Ken and I received dozens of e-mails from all over the world, thanking us for the article.

More than half have said, "I wasn't sure about buying one but after reading this, I am ordering one" which I found interesting.

hey Dan,

Just my $.02 - GREAT article! - really in depth and I think the DVX / HVX history was brilliant. Not just your stock camera review. Much appreciated.

Yea Dan well done... Must say you touched on some great areas... color matrixes, as well as design.

I feel pretty confident with my 200A though, but will recommend the 170 any day.

Hi guys:

Thanks for the accolades, glad you liked it. My 170 is shipping back to Secaucus today for the repair. I am not experiencing the lens wobble but since the repair is gratis, I figured it couldn't hurt.
