Thanks pt. its the canon 70-200mm 4.0L series lens. It was a perfect day for it.
I wanted to comment on your photos too I just didn't have time. I posted and split. But, great great model work. Really great use of your flash. They are beautiful. I love the shots up against the fence but the close up of the model with blonde curly hair...love that shot.
Yes, indeed. Although suddelly for most of the shots but it still gives some of them a nice feel.
I am giving up on the cactus though. It fires almost everytime now but only if my flash is half tightened to the hotshoe (which is how my flash fell and is now not working because a peice of plastic is lodged somewhere it shouldn't be)
Bottom line is that I can't trust this on a real shoot so I have to look into other options. It's great for learning, experimenting and practicing with off camera/wirless flash, but I would kick myself if it stopped working on a shoot I was getting paid for. I just wish the really reliable alternatives weren't 5-10x the price!
I thought I could tell you had, but you are right. It is very subtle. Looks good though.
I hate that the v2's are cutting it for you. Good thing about those is that you aren't really out any cash for trying them.....although I don't get why the hot shoe has anything to do with the flash. Are you not using a sync cord?
I'm just shooting on a rebel xt so no PC sync connection. I have heard that people that get a sync to hotshoe adapter have had better results (which would make sense based on the troubles I am having) but at this point I would rather pay the extra money and not have to worry about it. Your right though, it hasn't been a big waste of money.
Just an FYI these were shot outdoors with an umbrella so the flash was mostly just to fill in their faces or slight accent. I'm working on a DIY softbox to get results that are inbetween an umbrella and no diffusion. That would be ideal for outdoor shoots such as this.
I meant use a sync cord from the trigger/receiver to the flash (not on the camera), b/c it read like your were mounting the flash into the actual GI Trigger receiver. It is very flimsy feeling and would not recommend doing that. I would mount it like this.
Great shot! Just a suggestion: I'd take down the highlights a bit, and maybe add a little more contrast. The subject doesn't quite "pop" as much as it could.
I agree wholly with ryan. That would make an already fantastic shot uber-fantastic.
Another thing to try would be to sweep the greens bounced onto our little friend to the more yellowish/brownish/redish via adjustment layer. And you can probably use another adjustment layer to sweep the yellows more to green and the greens a little deeper.
Thanks Ryan and Matt. I gotta tell you, I'm a C student at best when it comes to color correction. But, I tried to take your suggestions. Oh, and feel free to take your own stab if you like. I like to see what someone else sees via possible color corrections....
