Footage to dark

I had a short film shoot over the weekend. We shot some stuff in a dimly lit room. The footage on the HVX LCD looked well lit when shooting however now, on my NLE, the footage is very dark. Is there any reason for this? How can I correct this or prevent it from happening in the future?

As an editor, I see this as a common issue with this camera and the footage that comes to me. You really have to have proper monitoring & understand the limitations of what you are seeing on the LCD and use the EVF.

I am cutting a film right now that is all very underexposed, when it apparently "looked great" during the shoot...

I experienced the exact same thing shooting my first project with the HPX170. I calibrated the LCD, everything looked properly exposed on it. It was a run and gun situation so I rarely had the opportunity to check the WFM, and I unintentionally underexposed most of the footage. It held up pretty well in color correction. But it's important to point out the LCD on the HPX170 is quite different from the HVX200's.

The shots that I did expose using the WFM looked overexposed on the camera's LCD, but look properly exposed in my NLE's production monitor.

Did you get a chance to study the EVF? I am curious the discrepancy between that and the LCD.
