Trying to clean out my MacBookPro

So i have a mac book pro thats running low on space.
filled with a bunch of junk as i used it only for a casual walk around laptop.
There is way too much junk to just go through every folder and pick out all the useless crap.

So, i was wondering if anyone had any advice on an efficient way to do this?
I was thinking if it was possible to search for files by file size, that way i can delete the bigger files of junk first and free up some space.
but i dont know if i can do that.

im running tiger.

thanks for any tips.

What I do on my macbook and my old powerbook is go to documents and right click on the files. Then click on "get info". It will tell you how big the file is. You decide if you want to keep it or not. Some of the big files I delete are the capture scratch files. Or the audio render files. Just make sure you are done with the projects.

This i knew off, but thanks.
its a little tedious though.

i was hoping there was a way to go in the finder or spotlight and do a search for files over 500mb for example.
there is a way to do this using the terminal, but i was adviced not to as i might screw up my computer.

Use the Force, Luke. Terminal gives you access to a Unix command line interface. You can use that to find files matching certain criteria (age, size, etc.). It's the fastest way to find the information you're looking for. Once you have determined where the files are you can deal with them however you prefer - from the CLI, or in Finder. The man command provides documentation from the man pages on commands, e.g. for the find command type:

man find

If you need to go really deep I can suggest a book.

I´m in the same boat, can´t believe that such a simple "list starting with biggest" search funktion isn´t build into Finder...
I have no clue what filled up my 100Gb of used disk space...

If you are using something like FCP or FCE the capture scratch files are big. Some are really big.

I'm a bit confused...

I have a macbook pro, OS X 10.5.5 and I can use the finder to sort my files by their size.

Am I missing something?

Of course you can sort the files in a folder by size, but i´d like a "list EVERYTHING on the start up drive by size, starting with biggest" command.
My problem is, I "command+I" clicked all folders and added the file sizes, but it doesn´t sum up to the "used discspace" amount, I´m wondering if there are non ereased files lying around, which don´t show up in Finder, but block disk space...
