Speculation from RED owner's post: it does seem Scarlet might have a 35mm sensor...

I imagine that they are smart enough to realise that a camera that worked with SLR lenses but without the jello issues of the D90 and Canon camera would sell incredibly well.

They may not support the larger image sizes that the Red does but for most people this would not be a problem as they don't have the post-production hardware to cope with that amount of data. If they want higher res workflows they can always choose to buy the Red so their existing camera still makes sense.

Its an exciting time to be a film-maker!

It's something that was already hinted. Since DSMC and Scarlet are one thing (and since Jim doesn't want to sell a scarlet camera that has a smaller sensor than a D90, and more DOF, he'll have to convert Scarlet to 35mm sensor for 2 reasons: Compatibility with DLSR optics (like DSMC) and a feature set that throws D90 in the gutter, no discussion, no questions asked. So, no skew, better compression, RAW, AND 35mm sensor.

Maybe the new cameras will all use the same or very similar sensors, and have different circuitry options for different specifications in features, resolution, and framerates. Who knows...

Valeu pela informaçao.
Was this officially stated? Will Scarlet and the DSMC really be the same?

No. wasn't officially stated.

It's still all just speculation until early November...

Oh, and there was some work being done on the back end on scarlet... that is why it was down. REDuser may go down for a while today as well.... nobody freak out :)

Later,
Jason

Sim, amigo.

Anyone can take a glance on the thread's title. First word: speculation.

Yesterday, Jim (Jannard) seemed to me a little bit irritated :-) for this pushing [ LINK ].

I had also opened a new thread on scarletuser.com before [ LINK ], saying pratically the obvious:

With the D5 Mark II 35mm* full sensor out there in November, it will be much more difficult to ask to the market in order to forget the most natural request.

As RED customer, I hope they should know how crucial is to understand the crowd and full expectations.

I believe they are aware. Even on the opposite of their own prior plans. Granted their visible irritation. That's why it is everything subject to change and changing.

For sure, they won't say: "hey folks, the 5D MKII release is one of the first reasons!» -- but we cannot censor them, can we?

* not forgetting the Nikon now and in the forthcoming months... weeks?

Moreover, as someone already posted before me, the only way for stopping a current product (in anticipation) rather than an upcoming product is to introduce the further product as something revolutionary, presenting it as having 'a dozen features' more than the competition. In order to put the babes waiting. Otherwise, they will lose them. It's mere strategics, marketing. It's not necessary to introduce the RED's onwer on this race. And he surely won't have any production units ready for sale this November.

Estou gostando de ver tantos posts em português por aqui, turma!
