Alright, so I posted this in the HVX footage forum but got no replies. I crave feedback so I thought I'd take a chance and post it here. It's a teaser I put together for a more complete promotional video I was hired to make for a group of wedding photographers in the Twin Cities. The colors are deliberate and I feel they contribute to the ominous/mysterious tone of the teaser. The HVX was rented and I had never used one before so there was a bit of a learning curve (the P2 workflow was a nightmare to jump into). I appreciate anything you guys have to say, you are the experts!

Hey there,

I don't have any experience with the HVX but I'd love to play with one, did you use anything else with it? I quite like the colour correction, the shot looks very nice.

thanks for the kind comments chris. I really had no accessories for the camera, just some rigs (crane, dolly, etc.) We used a stock HVX and shot in 1080i24. It's really kind of sad now, going back to my DVX i feel like I'm playing with a toy! Seriously though, I was suprised how easily I took to the camera. I'm not sure if it was because the HVX is like a DVX with HD (is it?) or what.

As for the color, or colour as you would say on the other side of the world :), the client initially was worried about the final video being too dark and I had to explain to them that this is just for the teaser and was for purely aesthetic purposes.

I really liked it

Great compostion and color, the music was nice as well. But very short and not too much going on.

I'd love to see more.

nice shot
super a train over them and then
show them next day?
send the teaser to CAA and ask them if they can get Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to star? Just a thought :-)

good luck

Nice feeling with the look and the music. I thought that it could have been slightly more obvious about the photographer though.

thanks guys, there will be more. this teases to the full length video that will be out sometime late november-early december and i'll be sure to post a link here. I also thought the photographers could have been more obvious but that was really all I had to work with because the dolly track started to come into the shot a few frames after that, that was originally why I slowed it down, so the viewer would have more time to register that they were photographers. maybe crushing the blacks was a bit counter-productive then :)
