THANK YOU - Short Film shot with DVX00b/SGPRO

Dude, I thought it was great!

I think more than anything it's my natural attraction to black and white films, but I thought the cinematography was very good. That SG pro gave it a really cool look also.

Some of the acting seemed a little dull for the girls role, but that's just me trying to nitpick it to death haha. I really enjoyed the lead guys dead-pan, dull attitude though.

The more I think about it the more this kind of reminds me of "Stranger Than Paradise" as far as the look and overall "tone" of it goes.

Overall I really liked it, great job!

Thanks so much guys!

Mr. Herron - I just watched "Stranger than Paradise" for the first time in my independent film class and thats what sparked the idea for this short. Thats so awesome that you noticed that.

The main character is my roommate who has little to no acting experience but like you said he did a pretty good job and the girl was played by his girlfriend who had never acted before and was just doing me a favor.

Also for some reason some of the shots are way more grainy and dirty on vimeo then when watched on a tv so must be from compression or something.

wow the main character did a really good job, especially for having no acting experience! The story was also really good, with the ending with the whole "i never told you my name was mike" thing, it worked great, we've seen that style of ending before so I liked how you didn't need to elaborate, which made it really unique, and i know exactly what was going on with that. BW fit perfect with the lighting/exposure/shallow dof. looked really good man, nice job.

Thanks again guys.

Shot with dvx100b w/ SGPRO and three lenses, Nikon 50mm, 28mm, 85mm.
The lighting was all natural light coming in through the window and as far as scene settings goes it was something like master ped. -7 and detail -3 and everything else 0. The black and white was done using the 3 way color correct in FCP, I just crushed the blacks and upped the mids and of course desaturated it.

I'm very interested in cinematography but really haven't shot that much as of yet so positive feedback like this is very encouraging for me to try and shoot a lot more.

Thanks, Ryan
