want to get a group going, just to maybe meet once a month or something, start a club. maybe work on a script for a movie and make a movie. we can meet somewhere and talk about cameras in general. there are no camera clubs that i know of and would be great to start one!!! email me if you are interested at kapncrew@yahoo.com!!!
 
I live in Laurel, MD and have recently purchased a Canon XH-A1. I was interested in trying to get together with other people with similar interests to shoot some stuff. I'm pretty new to this next level of Pro video I really don't know much at all. Before my XH-A1, I had a Sony HC1 for a few years which I used to record stand-up mainly and didn't do much else. I'd really like to do a short film for the DC Independent Film Festival. The deadline is Nov 15th so submit. I have a storyline made out and a few people who will hopefully work with me. I'm in and out of the DC area quite a bit though. I usually do stand-up on Thursdays near Dupont and I am doing my MBA part time at UMD, and the campus is at the Reagan Building.

If anyone's interested in getting together to work on anything, So far, I have the following pieces of equipment:

Canon XH-A1 (arrived to my a couple weeks ago)
Sony HC1
K-Tek Ke110CCR (just arrived two days ago - bought this used off a seller on dvinfo.net - the same person I bought my XH-A1 used for)
Sony Hi-MD MZ-RH1
AT-822 Stereo mic (just bought this a couple weeks ago used)
15" 2.2ghz MacBook Pro w/ 4GB RAM & Final Cut Express HD

My next immediate purchases are a shockmount (prob the Rode SM4) and the camera hot shoe adapter to use my AT-822 with my XH-A1. My second round of purchases will be the mic setup for the boom pole.
 
Next week (sometime between Oct 14 to Oct 17) would be a good time for me personally if anyone else were up for some sort of meeting. Perhaps somewhere in DC or Arlington would be good?

Also, this Thursday, Oct 9th, I'm planning on doing some shooting with the stuff I have for my idea around Dupont Circle.
 
yea guys, im down to meet up in dc, i can meet up anywhere really. where is your studio at man? id be really interested in coming to it!!!
 
Hey Matt, I talk you couple of days ago about job but you were already committed to something else. Just wanted to say hi and maybe come by sometime to check out your setup.

Wow Matt, your studio is very close to where I used to live (Vienna) and where I went to high school (Bishop O'Connell).

I live in Richmond now but I would be interested in a DC area meet up sometime soon.

I will host at my studio no problem. How does everyone's last week in October look? Right now I am good everyday but that Tuesday.

Hello all, I am in Petworth, NW DC and I am shooting a doc using a DXV100a. I have a couple of friends whose brains I am able to pick but to have a few more would be great. I am up for meeting but between Tues and Fri I work until 11pm so Sat, Sun, and Mon would be great.
 
the last sat of october I will be out of town so unfortunately I won't be able to make that. Usually saturdays in general are kind of iffy for me because I have school that day. Sat evenings are good and weekday evenings are good in case anyone wants to plan something else after what's been scheduled.

(sorry for the delay - I'm subscribed to this thread but don't seem to be getting e-mails when it's updated. Not sure what gives)
