If you live in Australia you should consider an HPX171 and not 170: if I'm not wrong Australia is 50 Hz. HPX171 is more expensive, but it is 50-60 Hz switchable

No. HD is 50 or 60 HZ, exactly as PAL/NTSC is. HPX170 is only 60 HZ and HPX171 is 50/60 HZ switchable.

You live in a PAL region and you need mainly a PAL camera. HPX shoots also SD or you can need to downconvert to SD.

In addition using a 60 Hz camera in a 50 Hz country gives you more flickering problems shooting under artificial lights. If someone lives in a 50 HZ country normally use a 50 Hz camera and perhaps you should look for an european model.

Hi EDV,

The HPX172 started shipping a few weeks ago. It's a 50Hz camera and ships to our Dealers with a free 16GB card. Buy it locally from one of our Dealers and you will recieve a 5 year warranty. But it overseas and you will get 1 year. We have Dealers all over Australia. The 170 is the 60Hz version. The 171 is 50/60Hz but is dearer.
 
those vidinc guys are legit. they are here in houston, and though not my first choice, they are quite reputable in my experience.
