So, I am curious... IF I decided that I could work in 30p, or better yet if Canon gives it 24p or 25p, what are my options for mounting Nikon manual focus lenses to the 5DMKII?

I know there are converters but I know very little about them. I wouldn't want to sell all of my Nikon lenses etc just to have Nikon come out with a D400 or whatever thats better in February.

I had the same question and have been researching converters.
Heres a good place to start http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/roxsen-converter.htm

At the bottom of the page he mentions this might be good http://haodascreen.com/Nikon.aspx

It seems thickness of adapter has to be perfect.

Thebes, I broached the same subject last Wednesday, over at DVInfo. Have a look at this thread:

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/photo-hd...non-eos-5d-mk-ii-officially-announced-15.html

My query's post #213. Answers range from the knowledgeably pessimistic to the irritably positive, through about post #231 (then things started to drift laterally into other issues).

rolling shutter jello issues seems to be WAY better controlled on the canon 5DMK2 than the nikon D90. and the 30fps isn't so harsh there. still...

and then compare the price tags between each camera.

yeah. there's that. i can get a D90 and a glidecam 2000 and STILL have over $1500 to spend on - oh, a lens baby, some primes, some SD cards, talent for a music video... yeah, i think i'm sold on the D90. and i won't have to speed up the music 125% so i can sync with 24fps -

damn, i just wish i had the cash NOW before someone else throws something into the mix that i'll be torn about.

Here's some hand held footage from the 5DII. The camera is obviously in auto exposure mode. Notice how smooth the exposure transition is from the different ambient light enviroments. Most wouldn't notice if they weren't looking for it unlike the jumpy exposure changes in the D90. Laforet has stated that he thought exposure lock would be necassary with the 5DII, but he quickly realized it wasn't necessary. From looking at this footage, I'm starting to believe him. Also, I didn't notice any rolling shutter.

Wow, why do only people get the camera in their hands who have NO IDEA ABOUT FILMMAKING.
I really don't get it. This seems like a big fat f***ing joke! And pisses me off.

Wait. How did a Bulgarian real estate agent get a 5DMarkII? The site it links to tries to sell you property in Bulgaria. . .

yeah, I thought about that, but the last video of the bird was shot by some obscure group in the philippines. They all can't be "Reverie". ;-)

Because its NOT for filmmaking. its a 21 megapixel DSLR camera WITH video capabilities.:zombie_smiley:

It can be used for filmmaking, but its made specially for Photographers.

Hey man, we're talking about evolution here. No matter what it was initially designed for, indie filmmakers all over the world are and will be selling their last pants for this thing. That's why it IS a movie camera, although the design idea might have been another.

Yeah the canon isn't anything better than a hi-def vid camera when all it can do is 30p. looking at that youtube vid reminded me of "extreme makeover-house edition"

The bird video was awesome for what it was for.

****, I wish I had that $5000 400mm lens to watch the birds too!

There are many uses for the camera and that is just one of them.
