hands on hpx170 - build quality and feel

come on guys!

I see people blabing about their shiny new HPX's getting to your door steps but I see almost no footage posted yet! get with the program!

i feel your pain roberto, but read the thread title again. i titled it "build quality and feel" for a reason...

I pulled an all-nighter yesterday (got the camera at around 9pm) and shot a ton of test footage. Will be online sometime today hopefully

I am curious if anyone can comment on what aspect of the outer shell of the camera are plastic and which are metal? I'm not exactly sure tapping on it. ,I'm thinking the bottom of the camera & the handle are metal & the rest are plastic?

. The outer shell is a diecast magnesium and aluminum alloy, no plastic.

Just so there is no confusion about this - some of the outer shell of the 170 is made out of plastic.

The dark peice on the top that has the 3CCD badge on it is plastic but is fits right against metal. The back of the LCD and the bottom plate are plastic too. Same as the HVX200.

If you strip off the frilly things, like logos and such and the bottom baseplate cover, you would find that you cannot get to the internal parts of the camera without running into a metal casting.

Just so that there is no confusion,

Jan
