Before I Die I want To...

...feel as though I have lived life to its fullest.

Really, I think that's all anyone can ask for, but I want to know what you all have to say. This topic came to mind when it popped up over on the Isara forums with a link to http://www.beforeidieiwantto.org/

I found the site fascinating. It is amazing to watch how hopes change as people age. From "I want to be a princess" to " I want to watch my boys grow into great men" It shows the true level of optimism young children have and how that becomes warped over time. In a way it fills me with despair, yet, at the same time, it fills me with a sort of joy, a sense of fantasy, devoid of all problems; the same sense of fantasy those children have before they become adults and are forced to take on more realistic and practical goals and dreams.

Further, it really reveals the true nature of people's innermost thoughts. "I want to be a millionaire" compared to "I want to see my grandkids marry" Some people think on a different level than others, some fall into cliches like "I want to live" and some actually think hard about what they say. It is amazing to me how much the answer to this question can reveal about someone.

It would be easier to read if you broke up your sentences into short paragraphs. It's tecnhically wrong but easier to read online.

To your question, 'Before I die I want to' ...do domething I can be proud of.

Not that I haven't already, it's just been a while. I feel like I still have something better in me that I need to get out, that makes me want to say, yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

I want to die being proud of what I've left behind. Before I die I, that would be it.

I want to be able to look back at my entire life and say "even if it was for just one second, I was 100% happy." thats all.

Before I die I want to.... see Raptor finish the animated short he started.:laugh:

Hey Joe. Picked up some more work and am getting bogged down a bit. It's getting done, I know at a snails pace, here and there, but , lol, I know man.

My grandfather lived to be 101.
When he was almost 100 I had the chance to sit down with him and record a lot of his thoughts and memories going back nearly a century.

One of the things I asked him was if there was anything he wished he'd done differently.
He told me that even though he'd made a lot of mistakes in his life, he didn't regret a single thing he did -
he said the only thing he regretted were the things he never got around to doing.

That's stuck with me ever since.

Luis, what a great opportunity. My Great-Grandfather was in the Navy and, although he only lived into his 70's, one of my biggest regrets is not sitting down and talking to him about his life in and out of the military. To my credit I was very young back then but it is something that has plagued me ever since. Further, there was a knot he tied around a pair of scissors that no one could figure out. He never did reveal the secret and the knot is still tied. Whenever I see it I think of him. The point of the story is that many people say the same thing your grandfather said and that is why I have recreated my life philosophy. No more self-pity, no more dwelling on regrets (and I have plenty). My goal is to be good and honest and to never hold back.

I got a little sidetracked there, so I apologize. Oh, and Robbie, that is a given; no one has to put it on their list because it can be assumed. Kidding, obviously.
