FEATURE: NO GREATER LOVE - Official Thread - Feature Film

Teaser looks great man!

I'm not sure about what that other guy was saying either about that line where the main character is yelling about, how in so many other words, "he can't be with his wife because she's a Christian," personally I thought that was questioning the religion, which is great to attract a non-christian audience.

Honestly, I never really saw myself going for any type of movie that I thought was ideologically "religious", but either way, if No Greater Love is that or not, I'd definitely check it out, seriously it looks great!

Sorry for the misunderstanding kubrick

When I first saw the trailer, i thought it was more of a romance movie, so I pointed out the religious line might turn off some audiences.

When i found out that it was more of a christian movie (hence being on christianmovies website [and my own ignorance for not reading the thread in its entierty]) I understood the importance of the little splashed line.

Like brandon said, it's explained more in the film and even takes up a big chunk of it.

How is it that you ran into carmel brandon?
It shows that you definetly studied the market, and chose one that was definitely laking in production quality, and went for the kill.

Did you have them in mind before/durin production?

Glad you liked the teaser! Thanks for checking it out!

Basically I had done a ton of research on the Christian film market because of my previous film, SMUGGLER'S RANSOM (which eventually got picked up for direct-to-DVD distribution by Cloud Ten Pictures)

I had heard of Carmel, and their involvement in Facing the Giants as well as a few other films in that genre. I emailed them asking if we could send a teaser trailer their way (the one you all saw) when they saw it they called back right away asking to see a rough cut of the movie, we sent it, then the deal was completed about a week later. Everything happened very fast.

Great thread by the way Brandon. Would I be right in saying the budget for your film is around $100,000?

Are you finishing on a 35mm print or will that come if the film gets a cinema release?

I have had the previlage and the pleasure to watch this movie before the sound track was started. I am a Christian but I did not view this as a "Christian only audience" movie. I just thought it was a good movie.

I make my wife watch all the screeners that come my way and she said this was by far the best she'd seen in years. She cried, which she never does and I have to admit so did I.

If my new distribution company were up and running I would have bought it on the spot.

This is an example of what a great story can do for a film when the script gets put into the hands of pretty darn good filmmakers.

Brandon and his associates have a great career ahead of them. Keep up the good work.

thank you very much for the kind words! Just happy everyone who has seen the film so far has enjoyed it! :)

Hopefully more news to come soon.

Wow, that's awesome

Learn it from Brandon kids
Study your market before you make it, while your in production, and keep it in mind when you are editing as well, and you might just get your film picked up before it's even done :).

Not trying to Hijack the thread - but I rarely run into people trying to create distribution companies. Do you mind if I PM you some questions? I'd love to hear about the process, what are you personally trying to do, what have you learned, what methods are you following, how did you build capital, what hurdles do you face?

Going back through the thread... missed some pages.

To me, the part where he says "I can't be with my wife (or something like this) because of the religion?!?!"
that was deal breaker, and because of that I (just me) would not go see the movie.

I could see where Charlie06 is coming from, but i'm a teenager who hasn't seen a single christian film, and after hearing that line in the trailer I just thought "damn! I want to know what happens next." I anticipated you'd elaborate a little bit more on that dialog piece in the teaser... but you didn't so now i wannanana see it.

The teaser accomplished what it was created to do... good job.

Thanks for the comments everyone, and for your continued support of the film and involvement in the thread here on the forum!

Fun reading through the comments on the teaser. Some say it says too much, some it left you wanting more. Either way, the audience for this film is mostly (if not almost all) a "Christian" crowd. Hopefully there can be a fair % of crossover, but I don't anticipate too high of a % of non - religious watchers. It probably won't even be marketed to a non faith-based crowd. The screener version of the film seems to be playing well to general audiences at test screenings, but at the end of the day it is a faith-based film (and hopefully seen as a high quality one).

Post Update

Post Update

We finished all of our ADR last Friday and Monday (yesterday) for the film.

Tony had about 50 lines, and he blew through them! We even added a few things, and he really rocked. We brought Aaron and Danielle in for a couple lines as well, and they did a great job!

Later this week we are going to be signing off on the final color correction...

and hopefully an exciting announcement to come very soon.

Big Day Tomorrow

Big Day Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning we'll be heading out to Kappa studios in Burbank to check out the post color work that has been done on NGL. We'll be there until mid-afternoon, when we'll head out to Hollywood where we'll be attending the premiere of the new Christian film "Fireproof". We're excited about the event. I am personally very excited to meet Stephen and Alex Kendrick (co-writers, Alex directed the film). So we've got a big day tomorrow.

We gave Kappa some basic notes, and Geoff is going to try to get there with us over the next two days but may not be able to. We've discussed everything though, and he feels confident in my judgment on the piece... and actually we won't be doing too much coloring anyway, the film is pretty great as is.

Color Grading was finished yesterday... it looks incredible... I'll put my money on it being some of, if not the best HVX footage... I've ever seen.
