I just thought, what the hell!?

this is not too far from what they did on Training Day, they actually hired real thugs and excons to play the parts, its all in the behind the scenes
I wonder how much they got paid on training day

Along these same lines, didn't they hire junkies off the street for Requiem For A Dream? Hell, if they have "the look" the director is going for, why not?

hey, it's background extra work... if they are not acting and just being, I'd go for the real looking deal.

(but i started to think that this guy is actually looking for thugs to steal some gear for this "really small budget" film, LOL. "some exposure..." "no acting experience needed..." Just made me chuckle when I read it like that!)

As far as training day goes many of the hispanic actors in that movie are all excons that formed a casting company and those guys work a lot between them. They started it to keep them off of the streets and out of jail. I cant think of the name of the company though. They have been sooo many movies, videos and commercials. some one help me out here.

This is one of those perfect examples of either a huge pay-off or absolute disaster. If he gets the scene looking uber-authentic the director is a hero, if someone gets stabbed on the set or something is stolen he looks like the biggest idiot ever. Either way, this comment will float around in either admiration or vilification, "I can't believe that director hired real ex-cons!"

Too funny.
