So AVID won't work on XP64-bit...

...but what will? Vegas? AVID Media Composer?

I'm pretty experienced with FCP and AVID, and bit of Adobe Premiere. But I'd rather go for the EDL that would suit Windows XP64-bit the best. So do you have any idea? Or am I just screwed and need to roll back my install to XP32-bit?

Haha, um, yah. My bad, it was late, and I tried to walk like you. But I meant video editing programs, obviously :D

So Media Composer you say? I'd like to give that a try, but a Google search found me a topic where it was said that it wouldn't work with Windows XP64-bit. Is there anywhere where I can check out Media Composer?

I'm sure the post you read was old and refering to version 2.8 or lower, the new Media Composer 3.0 runs on vista and is faster than xp pro versions.

Avid will not run on XP-64 bit. If you want to run a 64-bit version of Windows, you need Media Composer 3.0 and Vista. Not XP--Vista Business.

I doubt XP-64bit will ever be approved.

Michael.

there is low support for xp 64 bit in general. i found that xp pro was more stable than 64 ever was. you're probably better off w/ vista 64 bit, and turning off all the system hogging "features" of the OS. once you do that it's pretty darn stable.
