What's the best hpx500 package?

I'm looking to buy an hpx500, but I want to know what the best deals are, regarding fujinon lens, p2 cards etc.

Can anyony point me in the right direction?

Start with the $2K rebate (in a kit that includes case and tripod plate) and a $300 Fujinon SD lens. Add some A/B batteries and charger, a couple of 16Gb P2 cards and you're in business for under $12K. Try Spec-Comm for pricing (a DVXuser supporter).

Or you could buy a killer HD lens and we'd all be jealous...

The $2K rebate is running out at the end of this month which is kind of a bummer.

Our MAP price is $11,500 but our actual price is WAY better. Please call me. It's the only way that I can give that price out. It looks like you're pretty local too which makes things nice.

We have put together some studio packages which may help you out in choosing some supporting equipment.

For example,

HPX500-EFP (Body, VF, Bag, Tripod Plate)
SCPAN-SNAKE Studio Remote Cable
AJ-RC10 Camera Remote Control Unit (Paintbox)
BT-LH80U 7.9" HD LCD Studio VF
BT-MOUNT
HOOD80
BT-CS80 Cable Set (VF Power & Video Signal)
Astron SS-18-SC Power Supply

Under $20K not including the $2K rebate! Throw a SD lens on this guy and you have a fully functional studio rig!

We have other levels that include Angenieux lenses.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Just wanted to *bump* the Spec-Comm recommendation. I just purchased from them a few weeks ago and received my cam quickly. It was a smooth transaction with a great price and wonderful service!

Andrew, I think you're funny. I highly doubt if he is asking around here that he needs a "studio" package. Nice how you threw that new snake of yours in there.

Although buying from Andrew (Spec-comm) would be great, buying the package he is suggesting for "less than $20k" would not be unless you own a studio....

I think Ducatimark gave the best advice. Make sure you add into the equation a decent tripod and a good shotgun microphone on there. You'll have a killer package for a great price.

Thanks Kit. I just take my cues from the masters like you!

I assumed Indyreel had a camera package, but then I reviewed his/her old posts. Indyreel is looking for a camera to shoot a movie. I hope Indyreel knows how much other stuff he needs.

Indyreel ought to hire someone to shoot it that has a couple of cameras and all the auxilliary gear. Check out my site for the list of stuff that I have for example. It is no where near complete (and never will be) but I think for a basic production it covers most of what you need. I'm sure Kit, Matt McGhee and other HPX500 users have similar and up packages they use on a day to day basis. The notion of just buying a camera and shooting a movie seems rather impossible unless you plan on renting the rest, but then why not just rent the whole set-up? Throw in trying to learn a camera and its settings on top of directing, producing, etc... I hope Indyreel has thought through this whole gig before plunking down the money for just a camera. Not to mention make-up, wardrobe, grips, actors, and whatever other contract people needed for the shoot.

Makes my head spin. Anyway, sorry for the rant. I've got my own shoot in the morning. Indyreel, why don't you post a little more about your project and plans and maybe folks here can help with more detail than guessing what camera package might work.

Thanks for the compliment, Mark. I definitely don't consider myself "the master", I am always learning and that's why I'm always chattin.

He should just hire all of us to come out and do his project. I'm sure between us, we would have a pretty rockin setup for a movie!

Thanks

Thanks

I really appreciate all of your input. Thanks to dvxuser members I know what a huge undertaking it is to make a feature film. I just want to buy from the "right" companies.

Thanks again.

Thanks! :)

It isn't clear what indyreel is looking for and we just finished up on our studio packages and thought that I should share.

Thanks again for the support Kit.
