Rock Music Video (HVX200s) - Ignis Fatuus

We just finished editing, after a 16-hour day, my latest music video. It was shot in one day, edited in just two very full days (went smooth, unlike the last few, haha), and the band is very pleased with the result. I think we're all pretty pleased with how it turned out given the limitations we had for the budget, location, not as many crew as I'd like, etc. I guess by some people's indie standards our 10-person crew would be excellent, but with the number of extras, what had to be done, etc. it was on the minimal side. We could have used a few PAs at the least, haha. This was shot using two HVX200s, stock lenses, minimal lighting (intentionally), shot 2.35:1.

So, here it is, let me know what you think: http://www.orbitalreviews.com/ignis-fatuus/ignis-fatuus.html

My last video, Winded, which I posted here, went on to 6 film festivals so far (half-way through its festival run exactly), and I'm hoping this one has some decent success despite it being less than half the budget.

Any questions feel free to ask, otherwise I hope you guys enjoy it.

Wow, I was impressed. That looked very professional to me. The camera zooming with the beat and just the right cuts makes this a winner. The whole thing was dark, except for the outside shots, but the lighting seemed adequate. Great Job!!

Hey, thanks. Yeah it's weird how it will be very dark in that version, which I actually like, I don't mind it at all, but played on a laptop (Mac Pro, and a Dell) and an HDTV, even messing with the settings a bit, it was always lighter. I think I like it darker better, I know it's harder to make out some details but it works for me, at least.

Very nice editing. The camera work and the zooming to the beat made this project really stand out. I very much like the close up where the dust is floating with the singer at the mic, this is a great shot!!!

Your lighting I liked as well, you gave to this project a nice look throughout. I really liked the band as well good song. Very nice job.

I like this video, some real nice camera work.
I like the CC as well.
cool song I know the band was happy after seeing it.
good job on this one.

Thanks for the comments guys! Did you understand the basic idea of the story? Sort of near-future, post-apocalyptic reality where there's a fascist government and the band members are the leaders of this militia of freedom fighters? Pretty simple concept really, but we tried to get that across with the podium shots of the lead singer speaking to the crowd (where the other band members aren't playing, the fans are watching him more or less), and the uniforms, the arm bands on the fans with the militia's red X (their symbol), the banners in the back of the band, and especially the graffiti scene at the start with two militia kids spray painting the militia logo over the government's fascist sign, hehe.
