Cinemek's g35 adapter shipping june 20th!

Jonathan..

Some more questions..

First; do you have plan to add another lens mounts like Minolta MD, Canon FD and Pentax K ?

Another thing that bothers me: is it the focusing screen of your adapter in solid state ( like glass and plastic ) or it is something that can change to liquid state very easy with temperature - like wax..

I don't need from you the exact recepy, but wanna be sure what you get for that money..

Thanks,

david

Does anyone have any updates on this? I've visited their website and they're shipping the G35 already, but I don't see any new demos either on their website or anywhere. :(

??? the demos are from ages ago... they are from the first g35

Come on Johnatan, if you want my 175 + 999 + 175 + shipping. you got to show the result of the new G35, not the demos from 2 years ago... It pretty hard to pay for a static adapter that shot upside down

Where does the large price tag come in to play for a static adapter? I think the footage looks great, but it is old? A different adapter? Just not sure there is much information stating why I should buy this product when clearly it is coming to market very late. I need to know the real benefits to the user/owner (more than it creates a shallow depth of field, so do 20 other products out there). Especially with all the options available and DIY information...Please correct me if I am wrong or enlighten me

I'm not trying to down the product, just pointing out some lack of information and marketing...I'd like to know more.

How long was it before people gave up on the release of the Kinetta?

I own a Kinetta...

Hey all. Wow, sorry for dropping the ball on this thread. We are very busy with finalizing the first shipments of the adapters. Here is a link to some new footage

https://staff.washington.edu/gdmj100/hd_footage/

The bottom being an HD copy of a completed short recently shot with the G35 and Nikon lenses. We are going to be popping the forum back up so we can more efficiently answer questions. Right now I'm juggling 4 forums and multiple threads. :) Please feel free to email me with any questions.

David,
Yes, we do plan to add other mounts based on the popularity of each specific mount. All of our mounts are very high quality and are not from off the shelf parts. Actually no part with exception to the screws and retaining rings are from off the shelf parts. Everything is custom designed to work seamlessly with a very large array of cameras. The camera mount is a 1/4 turn to attach to the camera lens. So there is no wear and tear on the threads of the camera. It also covers the focus ring at the same time protecting against accidental bumps. No need for gaff tape. :)

I assure you your adapter will not melt on you. We did not rush to market to ensure that this, our first product was the best static adapter on the market. If you don't like it, return it. No questions asked.

I'm not sure why people think that static adapters are less desirable than adapters with batteries and moving parts. It's possible you have seen this already, so forgive me if so, but here is a link you might be interested in.

The G35 is fully sealed, so there is no way debris can enter the unit. I am a shooter myself and know what it's like to have gear fail on set. I will not produce a product which will put someone in that situation. Please feel free to email me or you can ask any questions you may have on our new forum. Thanks!

Luis,
Yes, my first post in DVXuser.com was in March of 2005, so actually more than 3 years. :) 3 years of developing without being paid for it. Because I love doing it. My personal and professional life looks drastically different than when I started this at the age of 26. There have been many things thrown my way but the one thing that stayed consistent was my persistence in getting this product out the door. My passion for product development goes deeper than my passion to make money off of it. When I posted that first post there were no adapters on the market with exception to the Micro35 DIY project. Now, as others have said, there are a number of options. I still think mine is the best. I wouldn't be typing this if not. Also, the G35 is the first of a number of products we will be releasing. These products are not just re-branded matte boxes and follow focus systems, but totally new tools that are currently not on the market but could drastically change they way you make movies on any format. Fun stuff!

I have no doubt you love doing it - and I have no doubt that there is some serious anticipation for the G35 from a lot of shooters out there (I know I'm terribly curious to see it first hand).

I'm just shocked that after all this time the discussion on this site, while it may have dies down a bit here and there, has not stopped. Goes to show you how much people are, and have been, anticipating this.

And I don't think anyone thinks you've simply been dragging your feet.
Obviously if making a static adapter was easy there would have been many out there by now - instead we find ourselves 3 years later with a slew of vibrating and rotating options....but still no static 'holy grail' adapter.

At least not just yet.
:)

reem, I found a streaming version. Interesting film:

Jonathan, your last post was a moving one. I respect the pride you have in your work and look forward to seeing what Cinemek has up its sleeve. I've been following your developments for years (Monterey and Similo were inspiring, and provided the kick in the pants I needed way back when).

Congrats on shipping the adapter.

Present tense "are busy finalizing the first shipments". Does this mean that no adapters have been shipped yet?

No, we are currently shipping orders. I was referring to my lack of attention to the forums because I have been working on fulfilling orders. If you order today, there is about a 14 day que. We are working on making that shorter but it realistically won't happen for a few months.

Mentat,
Thank you. That streaming version should be ok. Not very high rez. Here is a bigger link but there is no audio. Good thing we are not selling Microphones. :)
It will be up in a couple of hours.

Well Luis, I'm glad to say it's here. :) Users like you have been around for several years, however it's educating the new members on what the difference is, that is the key. I'm working on it. :)

oh,
i've actualy seen this one a time ago and commented on the stunning filmic quality.

Question. How much light lost and how far can you stop down before grain?
