Zacuto releases 27 new products

Hey All,
Being the resident Zacuto fanboy here... I wanted to make sure that you all knew that Zacuto has released a ton of new products (27 to be exact) since NAB. They'll be selling all Zacuto products 10% off through mid-August. And if you PM me, I can even help you get a free zicroMount which can be used in conjunction with Zamerican arms among other things.

However, one of the products I wanted to specifically highlight is the Zwing-Away. The concept behind the Zwing-away adapter is to make any mattebox function with a swing away arm. It's sturdy as a rock (I've seen the prototype) and should last you a lifetime. You just slip you mattebox onto the zwing-away rods and off you go!

If you want to mix and match rail sizes, the Jeep is for you! You can intermix 15mm lightweight, 15mm studio, and 19mm studio rail systems almost effortlessly.

Of note to the studio users is the fact that Zacuto's Handgrips, known as Z-Grips, are now available for 15mm and 19mm studio configurations.

There are tons of new products ranging from updated Zamerican arms to new zicroMounts, to Zacuto's own follow focus system.

Lots of new products, so go check them out!

Just in time for the recession...

.
Zacuto is only demonstrating marketting savy... Now is when people will consume film the most. Historically speaking (and this was true during the great depression of the 20's.) people rather spend what little they have on entertainment/diversion rather than big ticket items or debt during economic hard times.

only natural that we film makers gear up now. Although with the flint in my pockets, it's gonna have to be hand shadow puppet revival for my next feature.

;)

The Zswing-away looks nice but at close to $400, I'll stay with my $20 version I'v made.

What is it?

What is it?

Your post begs the question. How did you replace a $400 piece of gear with just $20. Is there a post about this in DIY. If not, be a fellow member here and share.... I would like to see what you've got for 20 bucks!

Here's a cheap version that I've made for my purpose. It's not great but it works for me.

Yeah... there are several Zacuto products that haven't been named with the z_____ format. The jeep is just one of them.

You can actually outfit the Jeep to the front of the Universal Baseplate to make the front end of your rig 15mm Studio or 19mm Studio rod configuration while still haveing 15mm Lightweight rods in the back.

As much as I can't afford most zacuto stuff, there's gotta be a market for all their stuff or they wouldn't be as successful as they are.

What if you already have a preexisting mattebox... such as a Chrosziel. That doesn't have the swing away feature. It's top notch. You love it. Well I can see where you might want a zwing-away after paying $1895 for that baby. See the market for this arm.

To hell with that crap. It's too easy to get a job done without flushing all that money down the toilet.

I would guess that both smaller and bigger production companies that have enough money to spend are big fan of Zacuto-like companies because they know that they get smart solutions, quality gear and don't have time to surf around the net all day(like I do) to find the best bargain on different equipment there is out there. :)

Smettli,
Perhaps. Let me put it to you this way. If you purchase an Indian made mattebox or DOF adapter off of ebay... who do you call when you drop it during production and need a new one in 24 hours? Now if you had purchased the original design (the M2 from Redrock) that that very Indian-made adapter was ripped off from... you'd have access to Brian Valente and the rest of the Redrock team. So I guess there's a balance between money saved and services offered

Now on the note of Zacuto... they have the best guarantee on the market. If you break something (whether it was negligence or product error) they'll replace it free of charge. That alone is worth the investment for me. I know that 10 years down the road if my arm breaks, I'll get a new one.
