Can iMovie capture HDV?

I was asked for a low cost solution for recording podcast style interviews and I thought about using iMovie and maybe a HV30 with a rode videomic to do simple talking head shots.
With directly recording to HDD, there wouldn´t be a need for capturing and the person could see himslef in the capture window, which will help him do the framing.

So anyone played around with iMovie?
