I bought this camera second-hand earlier this year, in "mint and working" condition, but never got the chance to use it myself, and am now in the need of the cash! I'm asking £450, but I might be open to offers. Paypal only. Buyer pays shipping + 4% Paypal fees.

Features:

* Canon Zoom / Macro Lens - f/1.4 7-56mm (low / high power and manual control)
* Split image focusing

* Interval timer with 1, 5, 20 or 60 second intervals, self timer
* Variable shutter: 150° and 220°
* Auto / Manual Exposure
* Manual fade-in / out
* Connection for E-flash, microphone, earphone, remote control, impulse cable...

Everything included in the photos above.

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

Bought that model earlier this year. Truely wonderful camera.
Even better with the C-8 wide.
Shame you have to give it up.

me being knowledgeless about film cameras, after you send the film off to get processed, and then you get it back how do you get it on your NLE?

Believe me, I didn't want to give it up - I'm a huge fan of Super8 (and especially this model camera) - but it needs to go to a more worthy home.

I do hope to pick up another 814XL-S in the future, when time and money permits... Just hope I can find one in as good a condition as this one!

Telecine.

The cheap and easy way is set up a projector to display your film on a screen or a solid white wall, and film it on a 'podded HD camcorder.

Professional telecine is the best way to go, obviously, but costs an arm and a leg if you want it done properly.

You can actually find home telecine units pretty cheap on ebay.

Those units are junk. Not the same. A pro telecine also uses a 5 bladed shutter in the projector to get in phase with the video to eliminate flicker.

While I am sure they are not the same quality that is used in Hollywood, tell me which would be better- A cheap telecine off of ebay, or just projecting it against a wall and taping it?

You'll still need a video camera with the cheap ebay telecine units. All they do is invert the image for you. You'll find that those cheap units use frosted plastic that softens the image too much and tends to vignette and collect a lot of dust. You're better off shooting an off-the-wall transfer. Either way, you'll still get flicker though. If you have a variable speed projector, you can modify it(done by cutting the stopper off the speed knob) to project at a rate of 20fps, and with the video camera running in 60i at the right shutter speed will eliminate the flicker. Syncro scan on the DVX/HVX is perfect for this.

You either love them or hate them, I am tempted by the price but as I'm just starting out I think I'll discover HVX first.
