THE SUMMER OF .45: DVX Crime Feature Teaser Trailer
Hi Everyone,

So after some modest success with my first DVX feature, Misdirection, we went forward this summer with another, more elaborate feature...

The Summer of .45 follows six highly intertwined personal stories via the path of a .45 pistol. In the process, a tale of drugs, crime, and deception unfolds as each character confronts the element of death in their lives.

There's a great deal of information on the film and the production at our web site, http://www.thesummerof45.com

TEASER TRAILER: (QUICKTIME) http://www.thesummerof45.com/trailer.html

Hope you all enjoy, curious as to your thoughts... we're still in the 1st assembly phase, so perspectives are MUCH appreciated.

Hehehehe

Hey stephen
This is how I felt

I clicked on the trailer link

it opened a pretty page with a nice picture of a girl and the title
I said so far so good.

Then a window came up, for the quicktime, and it was square,

and I said....Alright, I guess I'll keep going

The video started, with the medium of the girl, and I said hmmmm, maybe... I'll watch a little more. Then it went to a black screen, pause, other shot, black screen, pause, other shot

That's when I rolled my eyes
"ugh" is what came through my mind, "can't they get more original?"

But I pushed on, and continued watching
the soundtrack for the trailer, even though it was simple, it kept me watching the trailer. Then there was a sunsettylike shot of a guy smoking
and i said "ugh" again

Then it went to shots of a gun, it showed the title

I said "Alright, lets see what else"
then there was the 2009 that went with the sound, I thought "that works too"

Would I watch it? I don't know
the trailer felt too student film like, remember its the trailer the piece that either sells your film or not. I'm sure the movie sounds good

the whole movie traveling through six stories that are shown as the audience follows a gun sounded very interesting, maybe poorly executed? The trailer sas so, but it might not be.

Did you sell your first feature?
I think I read you had success with it
If you did, let me know :)!!!!

Charlie

P.S. I hope that you did not take this opinion the wrong way. You'll find heaven U.S.A in this thread, in which I asked for critiques, and I haven't gotten much, whether good or bad, I'd like to hear what works, what doesn't and such. hope this helps you

P.S.S try to use more closeups :)

Well, It looks flat (much like everything I make, lol). It need to be CC'd. the sound of the character speaking sounds sort of drab and makes him uninteresting sounding/ or bored.

this could be better, if you fix up your visuals and try to punch up your sound.

I agree with Evan regarding the character's voice. I would bring him back in and record him doing the same lines as VO rather than culling from production. That way you can mic them a bit closer to get more of a proximity effect and the sound will be more intimate.

I liked the trailer and would be interested in seeing the final movie when it comes out.
