G'day peoples.
Well yesterday was my big wedding film debut!. Things went ok I suppose for my first go at it,,, a few last minute changes due to weather not behaving, a few people getting in my way, and the odd audio stuff up now and then.

I did get enough good footage though to put together a nice little film for them, all up I got almost 4 hours worth, it was a long day!!

Anyway here's a short preview/ trailer I did today for the couple to see what kind of shots they can expect.
Hope ypu enjoy it!

Wow. I'm about to send off a completed wedding DVD I just made, and now I'm thinking maybe I need to work a little more on it first.
Really nice work!
Did you use nattress stuff for the transitions and grading?

Thanks Ant and Eustace. Appreciate it.
Only CC was with MB, I used warm and fuzzy preset, transitions were done in editing, I used UVS11, music was from Freeplay music.com.

Thanks guys!
Yep got paid, I got $800 for this one, I have another booked on the 11th Sept which is my cousins, also getting $800. Once these are out of the way, I have advertising, then organise a demo reel, and hopefully should see heaps of work coming in,,,, my rates will go to $1200 for a full day.
I want to get to s stage where I can leave my desk job so I would need to do 3 gigs a month.

I would love to know what presets. The lighting was incredible. Pretty sure you didn't have control over that, so how did you handle it? What were your settings? How do you typically expose your shots?

Thanks Benji, yes well the lighting,,,HMMM where do I start? I think I was pretty lucky, 90% of the whole shoot was natural lighting,, I basically let the cam set exposure in auto, once i'm happy, I hit manual to lock it (not in all shots though as I forget sometimes)

Scene file revolved around this sort of setup

DETAIL LEVEL 0
V. DETAIL LEVEL 0
DETAIL CORING 0
CHROMA LEVEL -7
CHROMA PHASE +2
COLOR TEMP -2
MASTER PED -12
A. IRIS LEVEL 0
GAMMA LOW
KNEE HIGH
MATRIX NORMAL 1
SKIN TONE DTL OFF
V. DETAIL FREQ THIN
PROGRESSIVE 25P

In the cellar of the winery it was fairly dark so I used my 1000w Tungsten light rig for highlights.
I guess I was fairly lucky with the way the lighting went, at the reception it was terrible but the DVX with 1/3" chips seemed to perform awesome,,, although some shots I did go to 6db gain with my shutter at 1/25th and Iris open, the images still came out clean, I am amazed. My B roll cam stuff in the dark shots turned out like shyte, thats the GS300 with only 1/6" chips so you can't expect too much,,,, some of it will be usuable with a bit of cleaning up in post.

Shaun,

This is very good stuff. You framed the subjects so well...very impressive. Choosing B/W at the right time in the edit can be tricky, but you really have an eye for this. Great job!

Thanks guys, i'm stoked!
groveChuck, cropped to 2:35 with letterboxer in AE, and yes Freeplay does have some real usuable stuff.

Metro, nice words man, thanks. I can't wait till i've got a few more of these under my belt so I can get into a routine. I was pretty nervous on the day butit all came off to about 90% of my expectations!

Beautiful. I have never seen a wedding video like this before. It felt like a trailer for a hollywood movie: a good one. : )

props!

You may have just inspired me to get in the business.

I had to watch that again that was a amazing job !!
did you shoot with a 35mm adapter ?
you got some parts in there look like the god father Movie,
keep up the good work,God Bless

I don't what to say. This is so inspiring and intimidating at the same time. I've always taken a straightforward, almost documentary approach to shooting weddings. I feel I'm at least as good if not better than what I've seen, at least locally, but you've totally blown me away. If I don't lose all confidence I just may learn something from this. You do the land down under proud, mate.

Thanks everyone again for positive comments.
There are many aspects of this which I don't like mainly being some of the slo mo stuff, its too choppy. I think i'm going to bite the bullet and finally learn how to use twixtor. I've had it for ages but never played with it. I've seen some awesome stuff done on twixtor, this might be the go I reckon.

I've used twixtor in the past. But I just tried the built in After Effects " time warp " and it worked really well, surprisingly well actualy. It was for a wedding I shot a few weeks ago
