I had high hopes for the HDMI out prior to the release of the camera. Once it became clear that all the video aspects of the camera were very rudimentary without even complete control over aspects of exposure, I began to really lose hope that the HDMI would output something good. But I hoped...

oh god. i figured it out. i saw hunters post with the:

my attempt at zak's footage:

and with the:

(upconverted to 1080p, adjusted channels, curves, jpeg artifact removal, regrain- to hide compression)

part i thought hunter was explaining what he did to an image that he posted in a previous post so i went back and the first empty post that looked like it wasnt showing correctly on my computer for hunter was the "lee: " post with that drunk pic.

I NEVER THOUGHT TO LOOK IN THE SOURCE FOR THAT POST ITSELF!!! wow i am retarded.....

i think my own lack of sleep is starting to show its toll

does all this make sense or do i just need to go to bed right now...

just did the math for total hours of sleep for the past 72 hours:

just barely 10 hours....

yeah dvxuser, i think i need to take a break before it gets any worse. im definately started to notice that my work on writing this custom jpeg de-artifact program is starting to slow WAY DOWN and focus is pretty useless. actually im struggly to put these sentences together...

anyway i guess im out. someone want to fill me in upon my return so i dont have a hundred pages of posts to catch up on?

night all, time to take care of myself cause i think im getting to the point where i will start hallucinating real soon....
 
RED have just announced they are bringing out a highly crippled DSLR recording to a very very poor quality implementation of the Cinepak codec in 256 glorious colours.
 
Sorry to be so blunt but I have to. After watching Slice's blog I've come to the final conclusion that unless you put this camera on a tripod, do some decent lighting, decent framing, etc. you will never ever get any positive results. If you do shaky hands takes, badly lit and shaky fast walking movement sequences, shaky car sequences you will never get positive results, not even with a much better camera. And sorry to be blunt, thats a fact. If you take the proper time and prepare one sequence with all the proper procedures I am 100% that it will look 100% better than any of that overexposed, badly focused, woobly and useless footage we keep seeing.
The guy shooting thru the dirty window did a much better job with the camera in the five minutes he had to test it mounted on a tripod. I recomend that you take your time and do it right then post the results. I said to myself that in this circumstances I was not going to post again but I had to add my two cents. I appreciate the effort and again, sorry to be so blunt.
