Dead End- a 5th Click Film

Hey everyone, I recently submitted a short film to Chiller TV's Dare 2 Direct 2008 online film competition, entitled "Dead End." Heres the link to the video's section:

http://www.chillertv.com/D2D2/Videos/

"Dead End" is in the 4th column and the 4th row. The icon's image is a set of headlights and a grill of a car. Unfortunately, the video has some scaling issues that occurred during their upload (you send it by DVD, they upload and compress) but it was originally 1080i, 2.35:1. I have the HD version as well, but I don't believe I can post it online until the contest is over, so until then, this will have to do. Anyway, I'd love to hear some feedback on the film, as well as receive the dvxuser community's support by simply clicking the "thumbs up" button if you enjoyed the short (keep in mind that it is relative to the other films, perhaps you should watch a couple others first).

Cool! Loved the music that you chose.

SPOILERS:

I felt that the girl should have been making some noise right before her demise. She seemed way too quiet. I also thought that it was funny that the guy just didn't use his hands to tear open the plastic bag at the end.

I liked this though. It was shot really well and I really liked your choice of framing.
Nice work!

Hey thanks--

I agree, the main issue with that was simply that I couldn't get her for VO afterwards (hopefully the guy's VO blended well enough with her nat sound that people couldn't tell haha). The crickets were unbearable especially in those shots, so I had to do away with any noise she made. I think she did, however, do a great job considering how she was like the 5th-string actor for that part (and the fact that she is not even into amateur acting)-- everyone else bailed moments before the shoot, so we had to race around trying to find someone to be in it. Thanks again!

Nice! I enjoyed it. A little more foley would have heightened the mood, and made the silences even creepier.

I liked the one shot of the guy just standing there in the distance, completely still. Maybe you could have lingered on that even longer, and then had a "jump" moment when he began to walk towards the car.

Really cool short! Good luck in the competition.

(that mask reminds me of The Strangers by the way)
