Recommended video card

I am going to be doing some green screen material pretty regularly, and thought I should upgrade my editing system. Currently...
Mac G5 Quad Core tower
FCP
AfterEFX

Looking for a video card that might help me improve quality. I will be using a JVC HD-100 for the camera (locked into that) and was wondering if capturing live uncompressed analog composite from the camera would be the best route. Or would the straightforward HDV to tape, to firewire, be the best I am going to get? Making the need for a new video card unnecessary.

Also planning to get a Red in the fall, so I would like the card to do 2K (4K not realistic for my likely needs). Would like it to do 24p for flexibility's sake, even though that's not my norm.

I've never had to buy anything more that a consumer grade video card so if anyone could share their opinions that would be a huge help. thx.

I don't know too much about that camera, but if you can get a true 720p out via component, you could hook it up to a blackmagic intensity pro card for your macpro and capture that way.

Regrettably, that model isn't available for the older G5 processors. Still looking, am willing to spend up to $2k fwiw.

I would think that a good card would be a AJA Kona 3 card. I will support 2K, 1080p, and is available in PCI which would work for the G5.

I'm curious if others think a good green screen software program might be money better spent rather than upgrading the video card?

In think there's some jargon confusion happening. A video card will do nothing for green screen, other than perhaps improve your monitor output quality. He probably means a video capture card.
Just having a quick look at the specs, the best possible colour space output from it is 4:1:1 via Firewire. A capture card taking composite would give you worse colour space quality. Just plug it in and record from FCP.
