The end of 35mm adapers and hv20s....

i noticed this on the D90 microsite. does that pretty much mean Manual mode or not it will alway be metering? what is Matrix Metering?

Zak you might go insane thinking about this! I don't think any of us have a clue!!

There you go! I hope it is, because the images are looking too good to pass. Especially the commercial looks mighty good, other than the exposure issue.

i gotta say the shot that has me the most excited is the four people walking under streetlights at night. look at my poster, you'll understand the visual aesthetic i'm going for.

Whoever starts doing pro work with it will most likely get a lot of promotional support from Nikon. It would be great if you can do it Zak as well as Hunter and Kholi or any one of guys here that are believing in the posibilities and the future.

i've already sent them a proposal for sponsorship.

They mean - only Matrix Metering in auto mode - P, and maybe A and S modes. In M mode there is no metering, one should do metering with handheld lightmeter - then manually dial aperture and shutter values. In that display M mode picture - metering is set to Spot mode - not Matrix - look in lower left corner. But - again - there is no metering in M mode - Matrix, Spot or whatever... 100% manual.

I hope you're right on this... I'm editing my original post to include your thoughts...

Check out the explanation from Ken Rockwell (a guy who does EXTENSIVE tests on just about every camera out there)

If this is what we're seeing, it'll need to be the first thing that gets fixed. Anyone know if something like this could possibly be disabled in a firmware upgrade??

hunter you use photoshop?

and I think the petition is just a bad idea...just my opinion though, but whatever works...it's just going to increase the price more than what it already is for the same amount of features. unless my idea of a petition is different than what a petition used to stand for.

I did it in final cut, by using the color-corrector and pushing/pulling the mid tones. It held up really well. (In fact I used a plug-in called shadow-highlight and noticed there was even more info in the highlights than what I saw at first)

yeah, i used shadow/highlight in photoCS3 and there was a lot of info in the shadows too. it was really pleasant to be able to grade using a tool that is used for color correcting.
