The end of 35mm adapers and hv20s....

Some people said that this can't be used on serious projects because of the rolling shutter. Based on what I have seen and what I can imagine, I am already planning to use this camera on a "serious" project in with sync sound- rolling shutter (and any problem really) is only an issue if you choose to make it one. It's affect would also be greatly reduced in handheld by adding some weight to the camera. Kholi and I are are going to be d90 pimps- you'll see!

Go Hunter and Kholi, lead the way. It would be good from everybody that as soon as they get their camera and play with it to share as much info with the others so we can get the best quality settings, info, etc. It is going to be an exciting time.

My only concern is how stupid i would look using this on my steadicam... I really need the live view to feed out to a monitor too...

All things aside the best part is that you can have a few of these cameras at low cost... and the media is cheap as **** too.

The bleeding edge... I like that. Red is cutting edge technology, and this is what you get when you rub it the wrong way. I think the craze, and drama is awesome!

Don't worry dave, if this experiment works out you won't look stupid 'cause you'll be one of the coolest kids on the block with your amazing new camera.

Wasnt there some hv20 users who used a high-res samsung 8" lcd to make a mini- hdmi monitor? And it was only like $300 to make?

Well... I guess we'll all know on the 7th won't we? I preordered mine the first day as i had been planning on buying this for some time before I learned that it had HD capabilities.

I've got a marshall monitor... pretty sweet sgpro rig actually... but i'm willing to let the adapter go if this technology is going to continue along this path.... or someone gives me a free Red One... You out the Jim? haha

Is it really coming out on the 7th?

I am allready dreaming of THIS:
cinemasupplies_2014_2389410

+ VR + A car driving over and under the bridges of Portland- maybe timelapse too?

Is there no one else that has the lagging problem when editing the native files? This concerns me because I thought that 720p MJPEG would be easier on the computer than 1080p HDV.

MJPEG works great for me even on the old PC I am on now. The h264 plays back chunky for me. Are you using FCP? Its possible that your sequence settings are off.

This looks like good news in the menus: Could this mean that when you press the AE-L button it stays locked?

Menu:
Assign AE-L/AF-L button • AE/AF lock ¹
• AE lock only
• AF lock only
• AE lock (hold)
• AF-ON
• FV Lock

Hunter, you already told me you didn't know but anybody out there knows if MJPEG can be dropped on Vegas 8? I have Premiere and Edius but I like Vegas a lot and would love to use it again.

I'm using PPro. I can't find any good project settings so I just go with the desktop setting and set the resolution to 1280 x 720 square pixels and the frame rate to 24fps. Has anyone else tried running it through PPro? I'd hate to compress it even more just to be able to edit it smoothly.

The d90 has a built-in intervelometer for timelapse!
Movie mode or not, that alone does it for me. I'm getting one! :)

lol those D90's are going to get raped. PPL will use it for timelapse, standard stills and movies.. i wonder what the average life expectancy will be :>

I dropped it into photoshop CS3 and premiere CS3 and it runs fine. I have 3ghz core duo and 2gigs of ram. Dunno what your setup is. I used their preset.
