After 3 long years, my obsession will be fulfilled...

At about 5 p.m. today, Aug 31st, 2008 - my 3 year obsessive quest for a DVX-100A will be fulfilled.

I was perusing Craigslist and saw one for a steal of a price. I called the guy up, turns out he is an indie filmmaker/event videographer.

He told me that the play head had just been replaced for no other reason that he wanted to put a new one in there due to the number of hours of use.. He has the paperwork from Panasonic to show what all has been done to it.

He has plenty of cameras, so he willing to let me pay him a certain amount in cash, and then pay off the rest by the end of September.

Now, granted, I haven't SEEN the camera yet (physically, I have seen images of it.) And so I know I can walk from it if it comes out that it's a scam, but I don't think this is.

In any event, I am putting in the sales contract a "7 day window" to test it out, and get my money back if there is anything drastically wrong. Yet again, I don't think there is, but it's just precaution to cover my rear.

I know.. it's not a 100B or a HVX, but it IS a Panny 100A, and it IS a camera I get to keep in my possesion, rather than the whole "rent and return" BS which is nothing more than throwing money into a dark whole with no return on investment, and it doesn't allow me to practice.

Just wanted to let you guys - the people who helped me fall in love with this camera - know about this!!

(I am open to any "caution" advice, if any of you have bought one before from another owner)

That is very exciting, just make sure everything works, and nothing is lose. Look through some of the threads on technical issues and see if anything is up with the camera you are about to purchase. Good luck with the purchase and hopefully it is legit with not problems.

Everything went well... it's mine.... alll mine...after three years.... it's mine....

The revolution begins... :)

Congrats! I love my 100B...now... get out there & shoot...we all want to see some footage.

Cheers!

how much did you get jacked for that camera? you'd have been better off picking up a used
XH-A1 for under 3K, now you going to have to wait more time before going HD.

Funny. He gets a DVX and is very happy. You seem jealous and spiteful. I guess green doesn't look better in HD after all.

I might never go HD. Right now, I don't have a need for it. Besides, I've had quite a few people ask me if some of my stuff was shot with an HVX200.

Congrats on the cam. I got my B a while back & very happy. I thought about HD quite seriously but decided against it for cost reasons. I just don't have the demand from clients to shoot HD. Dropping $15k on turnkey HD gear doesnt make good business sense at this time, for me.

Get out there, have fun !

Cheers,

Steve

Haha, sweet deal man. I was searching high and low through Craigslist for the past 3 weeks and finally found someone upgrading to HVX and he sold me his DVX for $800. Now I need to find 1 more! There are LOTS of DVXs out in Craigslist as low as $1000, Im sure you can negotiate to a lower price.
