Online, Dependable Print-On-Demand

I use www.myphotopipe.com and www.overnightprints.com

You probably don't have the budget for high volume printing. That's no longer an issue for the independent filmmaker. Use these two companies for your print-on-demand needs. Both will do incredibly low volumes. My Photo Pipe is best for large scale posters (and they'll do volumes as low as 1) and Overnight Prints is best for your postcards as well as any unusual, small scale prints you need (and they'll do volumes as low as 100).

We held a party at the New Mexico Filmmaker's Showcase. We needed invites we could hand out at the various functions for the four day festival...so we printed invites on business cards from Overnight Prints. It cost us 20 bucks for 100 thick, full color matte business cards. This is one of the many unusual items you may need to print when promoting your project.

As for My Photopipe, it is best to upload your work and wait for a sale. Their customer service is lacking and to make up for it their constantly holding sales. I've gotten 18"x24" prints for 7 bucks from them by waiting for a sale. Their site isn't user friendly, their staff is arrogant but the quality of their prints is excellent and their sale prices can't be beat.

This is from Prodigi Pictures in that thread.

Time will tell.

If there is one thing I know = Its what I know...And I KNOW this guy is going places.

Nothing wrong with demonstrating support by actually doing something concrete, such as buying a few posters, spreading the word and being thankful for the wealth of information imparted...For Free to total strangers!

There are people who like to see others fail and others who enjoy to see people succeed. I like to see people succeed especieally when they pour their hearts and souls into something, Its that simple...Laugh all you like.
However I really don`t think thats so funny.

To each his own.

Dogday.

I never said it was funny, and I certainly wasn't laughing at you. All I was saying was you might want to chill a little. Suggesting the posters will become desired collectibles is a great, great stretch coming from my view as a collector of movie memorabilia - though if there's items of wardrobe left over those are more likely to become collectable items.

Nobody is doubting Adam and I am 110% behind him, as is pretty much everyone here. But everything in moderation. :) Keep rocking Adam!

I agree. Let's wait to we see Corrado...:)

Trooper - I hear where you are coming from yet beg to differ.

A. Different strokes for different folks = Moderation may be the way you approach things but thats just not me...But thanks for the thought.

B. I acknowledge your expertise seeing as you are a collector, that said, value beyond the neccessities for survival is a subjective construction hence the term "Buzz". Its worth what you make it worth. Perception is the name of the game. Knowing that I choose to see it as a collectable and low and behold it becomes a collectable...Try it sometime.

And as far as this attitude of lets wait and see. My point of view is that no matter what its a tremendous achievment and deserves nothing but positive and constructive feedback, if not for the toil and risk involved then for the the fact he shared the journey with us. Anything other than that in my eyes is disguised jealousy and under the belt sucker punches. But thats only my simple point of view as I said to each his own. Its a choice how you see things.

Mr. Cultaro = Funny shi* about the Europoans and their Dog/Friends named Corrado...It true the name is all over the place.

Anyway I don`t want to wait for the poster if I don`t have to ( If its a hassle for you now I can wait ) 85Usd is cool since I see it as an investment and gesture of faith and friendship between kindred spirits.

Adam of course you got my support! You got back-up here whenever you need it.

Let me know where to send the cash, please sign them ( I want 3 ) and then I will PM you an adress here in Europe where you can send them to when you have the time, no rush.

Dogday.

P.S.

An after thought that may or may not have relevance concerning the price you get.

I have seen several packages and my observation is that it is really critical to find the facet/angle beyond the obvious selling points...What struck me from the trailor was that a lot of people had a certain mental filter on of expectation, the way it "Should" look, the way it "Should" be lit, the way it "Should" be acted etc etc etc...Based on the brief footage I saw what I found facinating was how intimate and almost claustrafobic the filming style was. It really was scary and intense to be in that room so close when TS ( Not Twisted Sister ) exploded...I think words like Raw, Candid, Intimate, Need to be incorporated when handed over for viewing otherwise the filters of preconception can get in the way.

Very often when editing you After-Construct and make things work and discover new things through what would first appear to be mistakes...I think as you say you got what you aimed to get so that would classify this speacial "Look" and "Feel" as YOUR VISION.

I think that VISION and its INTENT needs to be clearly stated before viewing...Because people don`t know how to see thats why they are so dependant upon critics to chew for them, even critics when confronted with something that demands some depth of thought sometimes come up with superficial discriptions of what they just experienced.

My suggestion is; Find someone you respect ( Who can "See" clearly and formulate it ) who can write the back cover for you, Covering you, your way of treating this particular subject, the film, and finally the story itself.

After all, the FACT is that it is a genre film, but YOU are the Director of that genre film.

And thats what makes all the difference...Capisci quello che sto dicendo ?

I wonder if this perspective isn't part of why your actors are complaining.

Since when do actors have say over who directs and DPs? That must be a new thing, one I don't see ever happening on any of my sets.

Hey Dog,
If anyone knows a good place to get them done cheaply (10-15 each) in socal by all means let me know!!!!!

Try http://www.clubflyers.com I think the price is right. And you're going to need a few posters. I use these guys for promos, they do good work.

what trailer? is that something that's online already or was just in the editing room you saw in person?

Old very old = Many Moons ago, some unpolished material put together and posted here and there briefly, then taken down so that the real one can come, when all is ready ...

No I was not in the editing room.

Read the thread from the begining all the way through, everything is there if you want to follow the blow by blow up until the present day status of "Corrado".

Hey Dog,

Please by all means call me Adam, or even Adamo, but never Mr.Cultraro (that's my father!).

Anyways, I cannot charge $85 for a poster. That's ridiculous and makes me feel like an amoral sheister. Yes, that is what the cost when you print ONE, but I am going to call a few of these places so that I can get a quantity discount as there seems to be quite a bit of interest.

As for the rest, si, certo, capisco tutto.

Where in Europe do you live?

Adamo = You do have excellent timing in your writing, the prose definately swing, must be the music in your blood?

Anyway I can wait ( For the poster ) But I want them signed ... please.

As far as the Mr. Cultraro thing goes I can stop it if you don`t mind me replacing it with Don Adamo? ( Teasing ).

I am a New Yorker with a splash of Italian blood though unfortunately I didn`t grow up in the typical Italian way. I met a Swedish dame many years ago and wound up here in Skandinavia, from here I do my thing for now and doing what I can to get out of here and back to New York with some dignity. Thats the long and short of it.

Taormina is a place in the old country...I think there is a Film Festival there would be cool to have "Corrado" play there.

Are you 1st or 2nd generation Italiano? Do you travel to Europe sometimes?

I plan on going to the States for the AFM, its been years since I was back home. I miss the energy and electricity. Will you be there this year?

Wow - Scandinavia. Who would've thought it?

My father came to Canada in 1967 from Sicily looking for work. He'd lived a hard childhood, working at the age of 10 pretty much full time, and when the prospects for additional work in Italy looked bleak, he arrived in Toronto with $50 and a suitcase. There he met my mother, who had also just arrived from Italy (Calabria), and they got married and had me. Italian was my first language. I didn't speak English until I was like 8-10.

I moved down to the US ten years ago, my parents a couple years before that.

I've been back to Italy many times. Most of my relatives live there since my parents were one of the few to make the trek here.

I'll certainly get anyone signed poster who wants them!

Thanks for asking!

Hey Adam,
Long time reader, first time poster ;) First That's you so much for your time! You've really been generous with it even when you didn't have much to share. Your story is inspiring.

My question is with your smaller crew, how did you break up the other roles that were missing? Your list was

DP
Gaffer
Best Boy Electric
Key Grip
Grip
1st AC A cam
1st AC B am
2nd AC A cam
Makeup
Makeup asst.
Sound man
boom op
Script supervisor
1st AD
2nd AD
Two PAs
transpo dude to watch and move the truck

where did the other roles fall; Props, Set decorator, Wardrobe, and was your DP also a camera op (when not steady cam)? How did some roles change on set with a crew this size? (I'm thinking for my short projects of going even smaller)

What did the make-up assistant do? Hair? Who did the blood packs/ squibs?

...and I guess Location Manager was different at each place, you said sometimes they forced you to hire someone, wasn't that right? Othertimes didn't have one maybe? Where they helpful when you did have them?

Thanks again for sharing your experiences!

Dave

I'd love to get a signed poster. I think $20-$25 + Shipping would be a fair price. I'll have it framed and put it up in our production office to scare clients!

Let me know when your ready to send them out and I'll Paypal the money over to you.

actual dimension of a theatrical poster is 40"x27". i know a guy in glendale that prints them for $30 each. best deal i've been able to find so far. kinko's charges nearly $100.

Exactly, Zak, exactly. My art is tailored to that. Many people who want the poster already have other posters framed so I don't want mine undersized.

Could I get the guy in glendale's name?
