hmm, I think it's time to sell my camera!

I'm getting to the point where I feel the need to move from the Canon A1 to something else. The HVX? The 3K Scarlet? Something else? I dunno.....

I've been out of the loop for a while now and I'm not sure what direction I should be going in. I know I want HD, I know I want the best color space within the $5k range, I know I want full control over my image, I know that I want to sit with this new camera comfortably for a couple of years without regret.

So, what do you guys think? Which camera(s) should I consider?

No camera can be a guarantee that you'll "sit for years without regret." In fact, count on having something newer and hotter come out within a year. It's just the way it is.

But if you want the best color sampling in the $5K range, you're looking at the 200 or the 170.

Scarlet, next year? I forgot about that... I dont know why I was thinking end of the year.

David, Yeah, I've been around long enough to know I shouldn't have made that without regret comment, lol. So the HXV is still king in that arena? Interesting!

am I correct in thinking that the HPX is the HVX's little brother. Basically the same camera but without some of the bells and whistles?

The HVX or HPX are still workhorse cameras that will get the job done, and look great... highly recommend those.

I'm still waiting to see what Canon has up it's sleeve. Right now if I had to choose I'd go with the Canon A1 or H1 and a Firestore. Everyone is waiting for the scarlet but I'm wonder where all these people are going to get the storage space. This camera is 3k right?

yeah the scarlet is a 3k camera. I really dont think it's worth getting the H1 over the A1 unless you're doing in-studio stuff. The image and functionality outside of that is the same.

Nate, you think Canon has something coming up soon?
