Peter Jackson's Bad Taste

Hey I love BAD TASTE. Yes it is not what most would call a "good" movie, but for some reason I can't seem to get tired of it. I guess it has a low budget charm that I as an aspiring film director can appreciate. Also, the splatter-comedy nature of the film is a lot of fun if you just sit back and watch the film for what it is. I don't think Peter Jackson thought he was making high-art with this one either.

Check out DEAD ALIVE and MEET THE FEEBLES.

I think if you're discovering PJ's low-brow, splatter past for the first time now it may come as a shock. Bad Taste and Dead Alive are a long way aesthetically from Heavenly Creatures and LOTR. I was familiar with his horror work from the start so the evolution was more gradual to me.

Oh yeah. I First saw these when I was a Teenager. Dead alive

I thought 9 hours of Hobbits walking was pretty bad, even more so when there were several subsequent releases with even more material and a different cover. Hell, even the trees were walking in that movie, and if they could have found the exit, I'm sure they would have walked out on it.

Good article on Horror and AFI on CINEOBSCURE. I wonder if their bias has to do with how we watch bad movies. Maybe its just me, but I'll turn off a bad drama or comedy. A bad horror movie can keep me watching...and watching. They are memorable flicks.

Fun link, J.R.

If you have Netflix, and can watch the Instant movies, check out Razor McNasty. It had to be the absolute worst movie I have ever seen, and made Toxic Avenger look like Shakespeare. The acting was almost as bad as the dialogue... yet it was like a Train wreck, I was compelled to watch. What's really scary is, it had a rating of 2 stars, and there were another two pages with even lower ratings.
