Dog stood guard over its owner's body for six weeks!

I'm not reading that, but have heard of owners dogs standing over graves before.
Nothing new really.

I've had a bond with dogs since childhood. It's something special I think.
I can get along better with most peoples dogs than thier owners. It's an understanding I think, from being around them for so long.

They dont say 'A dog is mans best friend' for nothing.:)
And, yeah I'll toss in a beer.

I miss my dog. Had to put her down last year. Dream about her at least once a week. Not surprised the dog stayed with its owner being a German Shepherd. I had a Chow/German shepherd mix and I could leave the front door wide open and she would never leave my side.

I have a Shepherd mix myself, he was in my last movie. :)

We had many dogs growing up. One dog in particular (Shepherd named Finnegan) wouldn't let anyone go near my Dad after he fell asleep in his Lazy-boy. No kidding. If one of us just went to wake him on our way up to bed Finnegan would growl at us.

My Dad would usually wake up and praise him. Crazy Irish bastard! :D

chit chat:

We had a neighbourhood sheppard. He'd come to everyons door, 'Pat', and we'de give him a piece of cheeze. He'd hit all the neighbours up for food.

Big bugger that guy, would chase busses and cars and try to bite the tires off of them.

When I'd walk by his home he'd pick up a tennis ball and bring it to me.
I'd grab it, and I fell down once, but never let go, and he dragged me across the ground.
I laughed and let go. He brought the ball back for me to grab again, lol.

Sorry to hear that.

I think I like my dog more than 99% of humans I know.

yeah. i can't read that story either.

I inherited my dog from my mother a couple of years ago and fell in love with her. she is a little orange/apricot Pomeranian. the most non-masculine dog ever. One day my girlfriend and I were driving in her car (a baby blue convertible VW beetle) my dog was on my lap and i was in the passenger seat. We ended up at a red light. This huge, very tall monster style truck pulled up beside us...me, sitting there in this Robins egg blue convertible with a poofy dog on my lap....well, this alpha-marlboro type man leaned out of his window and said "howdy". I never felt so gay in my life.

Not that there is anything wrong with it.

yeah that is touching, and i've heard several stories very similar. i never had a dog cuz my dad claimed he was 'allergic' but i know he made that up cuz he knew i couldnt handle the responsibility.

i'm always jealous of people with dogs. but i had a cat that i loved a alot and when he died i was really crushed and decided to never get a pet again cuz the loss is just so hard. also its annoying to find someone to watch them when you go on vaca.

heh.

Those are sad stories, but it makes me feel good that I am a dog person... and not one of those cat lovers.

On a similar note, there is a subway station in Japan that has a statue of a dog at the entrance. The story goes, there was a man who would be escorted to the station every morning by his dog, and the dog would always be waiting there for him when he got home from work. One day, the man died at work. His dog sat there waiting for him until it died itself. You'll never see loyalty like that from a cat!

Crazy. :(

His name was Hachiko :) It's the major meeting point when you meet someone in this part of Tokyo (shibuya).

He didn't stay there until he died. He came back every day to pick his owner up and waited.

No special interest in dogs on my side, but I do like them.
