White Rabbit- A Catwampus Short Movie

I've watched six minutes and now I'm going to bed, I'll probably finish it tomorrow. I gotta say it was way better than I expected. The opening dollies on empty hallways and classrooms were extremely effective and the long steadicam take was nice. The bad news, the acting took me out of it...lots of stilted dialogue. You could blame that on the script I guess. Last thing, does anybody ever get any closeups? This kind of tense situation in a movie cries out for them. To give you an example--United 93, from what I saw of it, was like the king of tense close-ups. Close, handheld shots of people looking super concerned. I mock, but it was real edge-of-your-seat stuff. Regardless, I think it shows a lot of potential. Keep on doing your thing.

Thanks for the reply guys!
About the close ups- I know that was definitely missing. It was a combination between a cinematography decision to not get too personal with the characters and the fact that we just didn't have time to shoot a scene in so many angles. To back up the former reason, we wanted to show the struggle between a group of people. We thought the situation or the event was more important than the development of the characters. That's why we wanted really steady, symmetrical, and unbiased shots. I think that was inspired slightly from 2001: A Space Odyssey, or Kubrick movies in general. I don't know how effective it was but apparently it didn't work. I think to make that idea more effective the acting had to have a certain style as in 2001. Kubrick's characters and actors in all his movies have a certain quality that I can't quite put my finger on, and that's what was missing regarding the acting in our movie.

I duno Im just pulling things out of my a**. Yeh we needed close ups.
