here is my situation... as of right now I own a panasonic dvx100a. I LOVE IT! I need a second camera to match the dvx in three weeks so i'm kinda rushed. I was offered a Panasonic dvx100p, Impact Pro Tripod, 3 filters, a hard case, two batteries, adapter, and an azden shot gun mic for $2,000.

I have about 2,700 to spare.... so what could be your call... the dvx100p or spending the extra money on the 100b??? What are peoples experiences with the 100P?? Is there any major flaws that it has compared to the 100A? What is the great advantages to the B??

Thanks for the help guys!

They should match up pretty well. Especially if the dvxp is your 'b' camera. The main issue i can see you running into is that the DVX100p doesn't have 'squeeze mode' so if you want to shoot 16:9 you need to use crop mode. not really a problem necessarily, but just a possible issue.

I have a DVX100P I've been using and loving since 2003. A great camera, certainly.

That said, with widescreen TVs starting to pop up everywhere, I'm shooting almost everything widescreen these days and the DVX100P is indeed a bit handicapped, especially when it comes to matching nicely with my HVX, because of the lack of SQUEEZE mode, especially in 30p if you shoot a lot of that [why? strangely, most NLEs don't seem to handle 30p as progressive... since usually you don't have to. But scaling the image (to match anamorphic footage) adds some interlace-y artifacts].

I don't think any of the mentioned accessories (except maybe the batteries) are particularly compelling (what kind of adapter?) - I'd spend the extra cash just for the squeeze mode, or hld out for a used 100A to come along at a good price...
