"MOMENTS" – a film by SABI

Moments - not all run and gun

Moments - not all run and gun

Nice. Is this pretty much all run and gun for the street stuff? I know nothing about shooting a small thing like this in LA.

There was a bit of getting stuff on the fly, but we had to obtain a permit from the City of Hermosa to shoot on the streets, walkways, pier and beach. They were pretty strict about it. It's pretty expensive too - but we were able to work things out for commercial shooting because some of the members of the crew were students. It took some face to face negotiations.

Things just aint what they used to be with regards to being able to Run and Gun in LA. I'm not sure what the paranoia is about. Now, running and gunning seems to happen best at least thirty miles outside the thirty mile zone -

Incidentally, if you check out the BTS shots on the moments page (www.sabipictures.com/moments) you'll see the Producer Dan Carmody and Smokey, our Data Management Editor / Slate discussing the next move in one of the pictures while standing directly across from a fire & police station...

(we weren't permitted for that little bit)

They were a pretty small crew.

grabs look great guys!

P.S. we have a 'thank you' card signed by the crew for you - and for letting us rent your gear. You'll have to let me know where to send it - thanks Matty for the comment

Cheers,

I have the wish to meet you people and share experiences i had during productions in germany, netherlands, england and france.

Yeah, they've actually recently relaxed that stuff in NYC. Now, running and gunning is supposedly even easier. maybe you guys should open SABI-East...:)

Yeah I digged the podcast too, you guys are handling things in great ways. Editing can one of the most creative processes ever, changing and showing you things you never could have imagined while writing. The movie KEANE came to mind when I heard those lines, where the filmmaker Lodge Kerrigan edited his movie only to allow Steven Soderbergh the chance to edit another version, resulting in two very different films that use the same footage, amazing process to see. I'm looking forward to the future podcasts and can't wait to check some footage out!

Just my humble opinion, and obviously not universally shared, but I gotta say the poster does absolutely nothing for me. Since you're consorting with Justin & Rubbersquare this week, and I'm totally behind their very generous posts on the subject, would be very interested in hearing their take on it.

Best wishes and thanks for sharing.

that's the old, pre-production poster. here is the current incarnation.
