I have a Sennheiser ME66/K6 Shotgun Mic Combo - when i plug it into the XLR jack on the DVX100a the volume is very low , even with the mic volume on the DVX turned all the way up the sound sis very low . Do I need a mixer to boost the sound ?

I also have a 2 pairs of the wireless Sennheiser Evolution mics (EW 112-p G2) and the volume is nice and loud with these mics even at the lowest setting .

There is nothing to adjust on the Sennheiser ME66/K6 Shotgun combo apart from repalcing the battery so I am curious how to boost the sound and make the mic useful ...

I have that same combo. How far away is what you're filming? And how loud is it? I am able to clearly pick up dialog at 50ft with my DVX and the ME66/K6.

Do you have the input on the camera set to Mic or Line? Makes a HUGE difference.

that seems to have helped a lot ....the sound is MUCH louder ;however i cannot turn up the sound as I am getting Whistling feedback I have pladced the MIC 15 feet away from the camera....

I wonder if you are getting some kind of feedback loop. Turn OFF the internal microphone. It's on that side panel switch.

I keep my gain at -50dB because anything lower in my opinion is too sensitive... Also keep your +48v phantom power on for all condenser mics so it doesn't matter if your battery in the mic dies.
