macbook sufficient to review ex1 footage?

I've got a MacBook (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w/4gb RAM) I want to use in the field to dump my EX1 footage onto. The footage will be copied to an external 1tb 7200rpm harddrive plugged into a USB 2.0 port.

I'm concerned that when I want to review the footage, that USB won't be fast enough to handle the footage (1080p30) or that the Macbook won't be up to the task.

Does anyone have any experience using a Macbook in this way?

Thanks,
Dave

I am using a 2.4 gHz Quadcore PC with 3 GB of RAM running Vista. I edit EX1 footage off an external drive using Firewire 400. I can actually edit 3 streams of it without much problem so the MacBook should work fine.

I guess the best thing you can do is just test it yourself.

I have a macbook with a 7200rpm drive and a macbook pro with a 5400rpm 320gb internal - both can playback EX1 footage fine in the FCP edit window. If I try to playback full screen, the video is a little choppy sometimes. However, I usually dump straight from the SxS to an external USB drive. All footage I have played on external drives (FW400, 800, USB) has played back without a hitch or dropped frame.
