DVX or Xha1

Hmm, resolution matters, actually. It's just that content matters much more. But sometimes you need that slight quality difference to edge out the competition.

SO I made my choice and am going with the hmc150...for alot of reasons..Thanks for all the advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If youre going to go SD...I'd opt with buying a used camera...dont spend the money on a brand new DVXb...

That being said, the HVX200 does both SD and HD and is esentially a DVX 100b with an HD camera built in. Shoots SD to miniDV tape and HD to P2 or FireStore (external dive, thru a 1394 -- 6-pin firewire).....Something to think about...

I would say go HD because soon its ALL going to be HD, might as well get ahead of the curve. As much as I love my DVX I Regret not getting an HD camera

jeeze i feel like a fish outta water.. I want the HMC cause its cheap..but the long GOP deal and how its hard to edit with, plus no tape drive..I would love to see footage before forkin out the dough..

Another thought is to buy a used hvx in about a month when people are dumpin them in order to get the hpx..

so either the hmc or hvx, we'll see what happens.......who knows i might flop into a dvx mode again ;)

Is HDV better than DVCProHD? Debatable.
Is HDV better than DV? Most definitely yes.

I'd say more accurately it's 'No' and 'Debatable'.

DVCPro HD is clearly the superior codec.

And I've seen DV outperform HDV under the right conditions, like during a wedding reception with lots of action and blinking lights.
